We are talking smack in the "random Dota Thread", but I think for the Berlin Major - starting today! - we can make an "official" Thread

(Wiki)ESL One Berlin Major 2023

The new patch is just a week old (or so) and I can't really fathom, which team adjusted correctly!

How often will Muerta been banned?
Will we see a Meepo-Stack?
There is a slight chance, that they will meet in the playoffs, so we could check which NigmaGalaxy player is better: MC or Sumail?
...

Anyone of you at location? I couldn't make it this time!

nothing makes sense anymore: lanes are useless because any loss there can be recovered; if a team has no map presence, it doesn't exist(relo, boots, portals, rifts...); sustain is king(look ma, no hands!); snowballing into a win seems unstoppable; dghfxjnhftj'fkmjn]zptmhz]pdthmzgn.

also, op link goes here https ://liquipedia.net/starcraft2/Https://liquipedia.net/dota2/ ESL_One/Berlin_Major/2023 (i think it's tlpdized)

I always get confused by this playoff system ... "you" did well in the groupstages, so you start in the upper bracket. But if you loose, you play against a team that didn't do well in the groups. So, even with a start at the UB, you could get the "last place" of the playoffs! Where is the advantage in that?
Probably a question of time, but let two more teams of the groups to the playoffs and have a proper elimination round, that gives upper-bracket teams a step ahead!

Aside from that, 9 Pandas look good. And MC Tidehunter isn't that bad as told
Again a EG-OEG game coming up! Will start being a classic!

I guess since it's double elimination, you still get an extra life, so it's still an advantage, no? It does suck to be in the upper bracket and crash out by losing two series in a row, though.

As a casual player, the new patch feels weird, like there's so much space and yet so many ways to be caught at the same time

Bounty looked very bad in game two and dropped off heavily after BKB in the first game. Force staffs wins games being the other point I guess.

Pavise is insanely strong. Then 5 man fights starts and it does nothing. Opponent support has force staff to save their core while you are halfway towards yours. In game 1 they got their force staff at minute 38 against an Underlord...

Really feel that itemization on tofu vs the 9panda supports was a large part of why they won.

Feels like Pavise is good with tanky cores. If you have a snowballing core that is barely killable stacking buffs and shields on him can push him over the edge and then fights become very easy to play.

If I'm loosing I think I'd rather have a FS to save my carry from a bad position, but if I'm winning I think Pavise is the better item, 300 extra hp on Alch or Dusa is pretty nice.

I'm interested to see if BkB will receive changes, because the current meta of 3 tanky cores is probably a result of the Bkb changes.

Ok, that was pretty one-sided. A heal strat where they picked AA early.

Interesting we finally see an AA after the mass aura and heal strats. Though I guess Oracle is part of a counter.

Agree with Notail. Liquid has no damage in this or the last game.

There is also the classical pick WR in the final game since it checks all checkboxes. Except it just half checks them and you lose.

Yeah Nisha is playing like a shackle-god, but with WR you either have damage or control and you're always squishy. In the meantime Quinn's Lesh looks tankier than dryrachio's alch while dishing out unholy amounts of damage and slows.

I m fairly new to Dota 2 and I like Team Liquid. But I genuely didnt get the draft in that last game, probably because I m new or something and always have to watch without commentary... too bad they lost!

It wasn't a great draft. GG ran tanky drafts with auras. They had little to burn through that.

Pretty much this. I guess their biggest problem was that some of the early rotations didn't work out for them and they definitely didn't have a lineup to play from behind. Especially in the last game, where sure they had some damage dealers but their entire team was relatively squishy. This is great for pick-offs around the map but absolutely terrible when you have to run into a ball of tanky heroes with tons of AoE damage (not to mention they couldn't even get the pick-offs because of 2 heroes that could teleport others to turn those situations against Liquid).

Thanks man!! Had an absolute blast as is always the case!

Had no clue I was going up on stage until I was there.

I was in a weird spot the first two days. No one could watch games so I started a list... bad move on me .
With a line when people see how long it takes they only stay if they really want a balloon. With a list its easy peasy to just jot a name down.. and me did not cut the list off until wayyy past 3 days of balloon twisting..

The last day I was moved into a much better spot (I hear I have Naz to thank for that!!) Next to the TL booth with views of the arena and screen! With the move I think some people just dismissed the name they listed and or they found me. I then just started going down the list and making anything I had yet made. If someone showed up and asked about where I was on the list they got bumped to the next sculpture. I was able to only make two balloons that did not get picked up and those two were given out at the end of the event. It all worked out but it was as always nothing but work work.(no complaints Id do this everyday till my arms fell off)

Getting some pics with the team at the TL booth (not sure who has those haha) and going on stage was pretty fricken cool , wish I was a bit more concise and not umm and ahhh so much and yeah hahah...I was nervous as furge ..I was pleased with the Drow crossbow I made . A cosplayer was not allowed to bring her crossbow she made and was going to not come. Balloons to the rescue!!

Been a minute since we hung out at Pima college eh

Sure, if you have any more questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer. I haven't been playing Dota 2 for a while now but I did play it since it was a WC3 mod (v5.84 or something like that) and am still following the tournament scene to some extent so I can at least answer the easier questions XD
