Oh no we can complain all we like but it doesn't really change the fact that people are gonna stop flaming people as we know other more stricter games doesn't really stop flaming. People will always find a way to flame somebody.
Oh we have heartstone but that game is a bore and even that game i still hear people fuming about imbalance or how they slept with the opponents mothers or something even when the opponent can't hear it.
You can't even remove chat/voice chat considering communication is a huge part of the game (kinda like people will always find conflict should we not allow them to communicate ever so that there won't ever be conflict ? that can't work well)/
Unfixable ? Not really but feasible to be fixed without too much changes that would clash with valves interest(aka money making schemes and just prosperity in general). I don't think so.
Valve in the end is a all about the business which they will always prioritize ways to make money more than fix moral issues that their creations have(as that doesn't reward them as much as you know focusing on the moneyz). And besides the large majority is fine with the toxic community style. So long as there is no huge outrage of the majority of the community. There won't be any changes.
So i'd like the community to be nice (tbh i myself flame people as i am a flawed human being too lol) as the experience that i had when i had nice/polite teammates is that the game is nice. I get triggered when somebody starts flaming but when nobody does well it is less frequent. Unfortunately it is not.
Kinda like how life sucks even if you want to be nice but overall improvement are always welcome evne if the problem itself can;t be solved in one instant

Yep. It is far too common in SEA to hear racial slurs like + Show Spoiler [cause bad language] +indogs, peenoise, malayshits etc when people get mad. I literally played with a player (who has a PA arcana or something) but we were losing and the said player just ranted about how the entire enemy team is poor and couldn't afford hospital if their families needed to
If they knew somebody was skinny or fat they'd throw insults involving those things. If they knew somebody is a girl ofc people are gonna go on and throw misogynistic comments. I once played with somebody on pub who also talks the same language as i do (so i assume that person is from the same region where i live) and he literally threatened to find and kill me on whatever internet cafe i was playing (i was at home tho lol)
So yeah people are gonna be people.

Even i'm a guy i still get shit comments (no not sexual one but really mean ones from specific people). Kids get harassed
Not sure if it is more common for girls or just much more highlighted by people that's why it gets more attention.
Kinda everybody around the wrong/mean crowd gets shit comments or gets harassed in many means.
I know some of my neighbors who would beat people up for not drinking with them when they asked them to(almost became a victim and think about this that person was the person i grew up with since we were little kids).
Awful people with awful behavior are much more suspect than just general targeting
Should probably just go back talking about tv shows or something. This kind of conversation may lead to a rabbithole that does not end well.

If we are going to full route of Valve is a business and they are doing to do what makes sense, then everything is effectively a zero sum game. So as someone advocating for what I want out of a game, I don’t care of Valve succeeds, fails or is less profitable. Or anyone really. And I don’t care if other people don’t like the system, because I am a player advocating for what is best for me and the people I want to play with. Fuck community and other players, give me what I want because I’m all that matters.
This sort of capitalistic theory of how games companies should function is unhealthy if taken to the logical conclusion that players should act the same way. Which is why I don’t advocate for it. Valve should be more socially responsible and not design their games to be safe havens for shitty people because it is better for everyone long term. Multiplayer video games have moved beyond simple flaming to being places where truly terrible groups like white nationalist see a venue to radicalize young men. These unchecked social spaces evolve over time and become more than places where everyone is kinda mean.

i was planning to write fiction and code personal project this xmas
pretty sure i'm gonna end up socializing, playing games or maybe binging movies/series

watched passenger last night, pretty good idea, very meh execution and using chris pratt as a serious actor is just plain bad casting imo
|
hey i liked the passengers(well it was pretty much formulaic admittedly)
tho i remember reading a comment about how it could've been a creative vicious cycle theme that would make an extremely interesting movie instead of the sappy romantic one we've seen
by + Show Spoiler +having jennifer anniston instead waking up another person just like pratt did and chris pratt being dead long before the end
i like the comment version of how the movie should've gone more than the movie version
i don't watch alot of movies so i only really know pratt from jurassic park, guardians and passengers

thats cuz u damn fool have never watched parks and rec also jennifer lawrence*

If you want to listen to a good podcast discussing it, Waypoint did one. They have some insights that I didn't' notice the first time I watched it, like the use of color and lighting pre and post sleeping bag. And the relation to 1980s America and the shifting concept of salvation.

I think the soundtrack was Johan Johansson's last movie score. It's super good
|
alright bought banner saga 1-3 would've loved it for the switch but the steam sale for 30 quid was just too juicy to pass up on.
|
That game is super good. I wouldn't main line it, because the combat can be a bit dull for three games. But it is nice to return to.
