I was going to start with a Jugg in PoE (the Jugg of all trades by Engineering Eternity) but after the announcement of nerfs to a bunch of stuff I'll wait for the full patch notes before deciding on my starter. I also want to make a Soul Wrest summoner for endgame mapping and bossing | ||

The big difference I found is that the video game series digs into the concept of Geralt was a working class professional in a world of monsters, magic and common people just trying to scrape by. In the world of video games, where the narrative is all about the hero, the Witcher 3 makes the story Geralt as mentor and adviser. It is a game about both overt humanity of helping out the helpless and high level political intrigue and world shaping events. Yet is manages to keep grounded through the very smart decision to not make Geralt the hero of the narrative. Ciri is the hero who is on her own world hopping adventure while hurtling towards the final conflict that Geralt is chasing after. You are playing a supporting character in a larger world shaping narrative, which makes the game far more interesting. The other part of the game is that is understands how to endear Geralt to the player, while also avoiding a lot of tropes of video game main characters. He is a hard working monster killing professional just trying to make a living caught up on events beyond his training. He is terrible at bluffing, lying or manipulating other people. Bad at telling jokes. Terrible at fashion and dancing. He is like a plumber attending an international dinner hosted by the UN and trying to fit in. It is instantly endearing and funny. But that writing also has added depth that Geralt needs other people to help him navigate the world and avoids the trope of the main character being unnaturally good at everything because they are the center of the narrative. You are left with the impression Ciri might be able to do it all. Juggle the working stiff life of a Witcher while also being able to navigate the politics of Court with style and grace. It feeds into the Geralt as a father figure just trying to keep up with his daughter, who has more opportunities that he ever thought he had. Man, I should replay the Witcher 3. But those damn Witcher gear missions on the fucking worst(I refuse to look like trash in the non-witcher armor). I should just print out a guide for all of of them and put in on the coffee table. | ||

The Boston Red Sox did not grow up in Boston. Basing teams around cities/regions is a way to create narratives and affiliation to the team, even if the players are not from that area. | ||
