Had to solder my $15 earbuds back together. The two little wires inside had snapped off the solder so it wasn't really too hard to get in there and get the job done. Pretty happy I work in a lab with this stuff readily available.
Man what happened, used to get $2 earbuds that'd last a few months, these days $15 lasts like three weeks.

I'm not building my watercooling rig this week as the manufacturer is overwhelmed by orders. Duh. That's what happens if you go for the champions league of components.

Uuh...
1) have earbuds fall apart for no reason on the bus (actually I may be unfair in saying this, it has been quite cold which may have made the cheap earbud glue quite brittle)
2) put them back together (just physically press the bits back together)
3) realize they're on the wrong way
4) twist them back to the right position
5) realize the wires have now been disconnected
6) stew in pessimism for half an hour (duration not fixed)
7) stop stewing in pessimism (in my case get off bus and go to lab)
8) play music through earbuds and see how the wires are meant to be connected to the solder pads (because they're cheap earbuds they were likely hand-soldered by someone previously)
9) forget the configuration entirely
10) re-do step 8)
11) solder the wires onto the solder pads which are quite large so dexterity is not necessary (do not attempt when drunk)
12) put everything together and hope it works. Alternatively sacrifice a goat first.
13) glue everything back together (I haven't done this yet)
14) shitpost on LD (optional)

Hope everyone had a good Bird Day. We are now in the throws of cyber Monday, which is weird people who grew up with the early internet and “cyber” as verb.
