I mean you can just wait and turn on the courtyard when you've progressed comfortably into your run afaik, don't need to have it enabled from the start if that bothers you.

Faruko yes. They are different DLCs. Looks like I'd be paying ~30 CAD total for the game + 2 DLCs, but the base game is still just 12. It almost feels like the smart move is to pick up the game for 12 and see if I like it. If I do, maybe it'd be worth picking up the DLC. If not, I'll be content I only spent 12 for it. I mean, I've spent more for games I haven't even played yet, so...

It's definitely somewhat grindy but i can't agree with it being too RNG-heavy. Yes almost everything is indeed randomized to some degree but you have a lot of ways to influence the various outcomes and ultimately the game is meant to have you sometimes fail. Sometimes you just miss even if you had a 95% chance to hit, and i guess if you can't deal with that the game would frustrate you, but i don't feel the game is ever really unfair unless you expect to never lose a unit, it's meant to be hard and your heroes are meant to die occasionally, it's part of the whole lovecraftian experience to have shit go awfully wrong. And again, you have a ton of ways to influence outcomes. If you don't want to miss you should bring a character that can buff your accuracy, if you want to make sure your characters go first make sure to bring someone to buff speed and so on. Use trinkets to boost your chance to bleed enemies if you want to bleed enemies and so on.

So yeah it has a lot of RNG but i wouldn't call it too much, i find it to be a perfectly adequate amount.

Darkest dungeon with no RNG honestly sounds so fucking boring.

Its not rng heavy its super beatable. Waaaayyyy less rng heavy then your run of the mill roguelike.

You should only lose a character if you fuck up and dont know when to bail on the run or get insanely unlucky

I like darkest dungeon a lot, but some of its systems but against my enjoyment. Like if it automatically just asked you to equip items on heroes before going into a dungeon if they didn’t have them, it would be a time saver. And if it removed items from heroes if they were set for treatment.

It is just little stuff like that that gets in the way of me enjoying it. But then again, I put up with Monster Hunter, so maybe my bullshit tolerance is game dependant.

P6 would you say it's worth it for ~12 CAD (~10 USD?)? That's another factor for me: how much a game costs. Only to an extent - I don't mind spending money on games if I think they'll be good, but I haven't really tried Darkest Dungeon or read any reviews. The GOG ad piqued my interest after a buddy of mine mentioned he's been playing it.

Yes. It is a good time and fun to play. It can become a bit of a grind, especially if you are prone to restarting.
