but I'm not judging until I see steelseries and starbucks results for this year, maybe bad publicity is the 200IQ play e. apparently starbucks had their employees start talking to customers about racial issues a few years back, there's like 0 chance this isn't deliberate then | ||

they've removed homeless people from various premises for not being customers before the only difference here is that the people removed were black and now it's a big deal? am I missing something | ||

now, the angle i heard didn't involve asking them to leave so much as just auto-calling the cops after they asked to use the bathroom and were turned down, but honestly I don't have a lot of respect for most journalism these days and I also couldn't care less what some starbucks on the other side of the continent is doing so i don't care about this one enough to try to figure out exactly what happened. the manager probably fucked up somewhere there, but i'm sure the overreaction is much worse than the action. | ||

Per the two black dudes, they asked to use the bathroom when they arrived, were refused and then the police showed up. Per the manager who called the police, the black dudes cursed her out, refused to leave and didn't buy anything. She has left the company. The CEO of starbucks said the manager made the wrong call in this case. The dudes have no criminal records or arrests. Yeah, there seems to be conflicting information on if the two men were asked to leave. As for stores asking you to leave, they are allowed to do so. But they must be consistent. They cannot ask black patrons who don't buy anything to leave, but allow white patrons to remain. And I am sure that upon review, we would discovery that manager rarely enforced the purchase required to use the bathroom policy. | ||

The police have to have good cause to order you around, and their scope is not unlimited. An office can ask you to stop and ask some questions. But you can respond "Am I being detained?" And then they get to make the call if they have good cause. The officer asked them to leave three times. The dudes knew they did nothing wrong, so they refused. They got arrested and now the officers have to justify why they arrested the two men. And it turns out that the justification is lacking. This is how it is supposed to work. We empower police to arrest people. That doesn't automatically make them justified when they do it. | ||
