Optional strobing/scanning modes for the backlight to reduce motion blur as well. + Show Spoiler + this is because the human eye/brain is actually really good at filling in the blanks and creating smooth motion if you show it motion like A____B____C____D but not if you show it AAAABBBBCCCCDDDD its weirdly similar to how you can track a smoothly moving object with your eyes perfectly, but can't really smoothly scan across an image, your eye jumps from focus point to focus point.

4:3 throws out 1/4 of your horizontal pixels from modern 16 : 9 ratios. That's fine (black bars and all) but the vertical resolution still needs to be an integer denominator of the monitor's total vertical pixels (in this case 2160) in order to look good (simple pixel doubling). So the practicality of 960x540 remains seriously in question, but it's still interesting tech.

Teddy, how much of Blade and Soul should I play before I've seen enough to evaluate whether I should keep playing?

Tera isn't bad, it's a decent timewaster. I wouldn't really play it seriously though. The greatsword class is lots of fun to play.

So I spent the last 10 hours scrolling through ToME code in a fugue state, I think. Did mostly finish my mod for alchemist in that game (the class is so weak), now all I have to do is make it not a weird hack job that won't play well with other mods. I thought the golem could get pretty good in tome 4

Also Teddy I'll be sure to try it out at some point, but I feel like TERA may just scratch the MMO itch enough to tie me back into my degenerate weeb shit. Just haven't been in the mood to really read any VNs or play more of Chrono Trigger. That's the level of burnout we're talking about.

It has the lowest damage in the game and no built in utility spells (the next lowest is archmage, but they have tons of utility and disruption shield. They can also get 100% damage penetration for arcane damage). The golem falls off really hard around the last t2/dreadfall unless you max out the class points in it, and if you do then it falls off super hard after dreadfell. The golem has some alright arcane abilities damage-wise but its physical abilities can't be used in melee range (what? It is so backwards), every single one of them is a charge. So it is just a charge then bump attacks for scaling. It is already going to do far less damage than a player with equivalent skills because it only has 3 equipment slots. Alchemist is basically carried by explosion expert being somewhat busted. On top of that, its gem ammo management system is also probably the most irritating thing in the game. So what I did : Golem can now use physical abilities in melee range. Gems are no longer consumed by abilities Explosion expert code changed to use a newer lua function that correctly calculates explosion size. This nerfs the damage bonus a bit, so throw bomb got changed a bit Doubled channel staff damage and tripled mana cost. Throw bomb has 7x mana consumption, gems now give overall, predictable damage multiplier bonus so scaling is easier. Shockwave bomb changed to be a 1 tile explosion dealing theoretical max explosion expert scaling, but massive mana cost. Infusions now give damage pen. Overall buffs across the board for the rest of their abilities. I'm still working on throw bomb balancing, but the rest seems mostly fine to me now.
