The whole betting/match-fixing scandal + VAC Bans really turned me off from CSGO, which is a shame because I think the players' personalities and personas are the best than other games.

Yeah, same with me. The whole thing seemed so promising, but it seems like a lot of the players couldn't help themselves. I think I will stick with Dota and passively watching SC2.

The problem is that bans are not harsh enough. People get all sympathetic and say "he should only be banned for 1 year or only from that league". Really it should be scorched earth and the player who cheats or bets should be banned from everything. Pete Rose style.

I'm sure that CSGO is doing fine, it will just always have the specter of "Is this kid cheating" over it, since it was so prolific early on.

Yeah, but this has been going on for like, 15 years.

Its probably less of a problem in CSGO than most other CS's
