I love how Arkham Knight was removed from Steam but the Steam popup (the one that shows games and such) still appears and shows it for $59.99.

The biggest mistake we as a community, both pro and non-pro, made, was that eventually we stopped whining.

I am surprised they pulled it, but I guess it was a good call. Dave Lang, the owner of the company that did the port, will have some amazing stuff to say about a year from now when he is drunk and on the Giant Bomb E3 show. It should be fun to hear.
Jeff Gerstmann says it all about the port.

good thing theres steam refund now AMIRITE

Pretty much. The publisher feeds the PC port house a hot build of a game and says “make this launch day and date with consoles”. PC port house tells them it is impossible. Does it anyways because WB gives no fucks.
|
Is that also similar to what happened with Skyrim? I'm mainly asking because launch-day PC controls and the UI were atrocious. Thank goodness for SKY-UI.
|
The fact that modders and the community had to fix something as basic as the fucking UI to make it even somewhat decent is still beyond me.
|
I think that's part of why I gave up on Oblivion: I didn't mod games back then nearly as seriously. I still don't typically do it, but for Skyrim, it's almost unplayable on PC... I wonder how it'd play with a controller. I might try it out with my biogenik PS3 later and report back to you guys on that.

Sometimes companies are good at specific things. Bethesda to staff up on someone who has a talent for UIs. Swipe someone from Sledghammer games for that sweet Dead Space UI.

Rofl, my by now wearing a red trenchcoat, witcher gets lectured by some philosophy students about Nietzsche, I haven't the foggiest what is going on. Also dead space sucked.

Yeah, Bioware has some really talented writers buried underneath all those useless systems and fetch quests(looking at you DAI). Naughty Dog has cinematic tech, amazing visuals and good writing. But they also have some sort of lack luster encounter design. Every developer has their weak points and it’s often due to some specific talent missing in their staff.
