Dunno then there arent many good open world rpgs altogether. Gothic series was ok, but not open world, all the RPGs based on the d&d ruleset arent open world, Sacred was kinda open world iirc, but thats an arpg.

why does no one make the games i want damn it

Vampire the masquerade: bloodlines although it's kind of more of a 3rd person game than first person
Not quite openworld either although you do have a lot of freedom

Elder Scrolls and Fallout are the open world RPG series. Not much else out there, making open worlds is hard and time consuming.

I think the only games I enjoyed near the end of Wc3 custom games were the ones that had time to mature and get patched.
Mad Balls Warlocks (the dota 2 one is awful btw) Uther Party Pains Party Ice Escape (The Japanese 3.0 version with no backwards ice). sheep Tag 3.16
For just fun games Jungle Race Are You a lucker?

Bethesda's like the only company that actually makes first person "RPGs" that aren't shooters, and I hesitate to call their games RPGs because they're more like just exploration games with leveling systems given how much of an afterthought the story stuff is.

They fit more as an RPG than most other games people are fine calling RPGs. Not like you do a lot of roleplaying in Final Fantasy or Diablo.

True, though that's why those also have subgenres distinguishing them (JRPG and action RPG respectively).

Who calls Diablo an RPG? It's a dungeoncrawler, isn't it?
|
speaking of the first 2 fallouts I just bought Wasteland 2 on sale. anyone played it?
|
It's an action RPG.
Dungeon crawler are more like rogue-likes. Which ironically are the closest thing to how some pen and paper RPGs were played but noone calls them RPGs.

Dungeon crawler I think refers more to games like Grimrock or Wizardry?

Hack'n'slash are action games. They don't need a leveling system but if they have RPG elements, they are Action RPGs.
Games can belong to multiple genres. Streets of Rage, Diablo, Devil May Cry may all be called hack'n'slash by some people.
