Go back to WC3 dota, neanderthal, you'll find plenty of familiarly unpolished rocks over there.

- I'm primarily a spectator these days, and while that might change a bit the fact that the spectator interface is vastly improved is exciting
- I'm excited to see where custom games go and what kind of crowds they can bring. Especially aided by the new tutorial system if it's good.
- I appreciate the qol changes like being able to try on cosmetics in game before you buy them.
- Getting this out the door should free up resources, some of which will hopefully be useful for other Dota development. And, more importantly, since this comes with a new interface they aren't blocked on making other UI changes that wouldn't make sense since they'd be developing for an old UI. So hopefully more qol changes to come
I dunno I tend to be optimistic happy anti-comeh guy so I'm sure my last point is unrealistic but that's where I am.

Now if they can just update the ingame ui. I really hate the ingame ui because it's too big and takes too much of the screen. At least just give the option to reduce the size. I know the hud skins is a huge part why they can t update it but please valve.

Additionally, our focus has been on the dashboard so you’ll find the in-game HUD currently looks the same. Judging from this quote, it seems like Valve is going to do something about it otherwise it wouldn't have made sense for them to mention it.

Obviously Valve showed us this stuff first cuz it's what people would be least hyped about, building up to the other stuff.

I don't think people expect them to be good, but they expect them existing to be a step up from them not existing (technically they already exist, but effectively don't for people who don't want to jump through hoops to get to them).

We now have almost wc3 feature parity

customs will get better quickly as the playerbase for them picks up

i think the update will incentivize map creators to actually try since it'll actually be integrated into the main client and the workshop engine appears to be outdated. maps will be shit when they first come out but i don't think it'll take very long for it to be better.
i already expect in ti6, valve will do a "best dota 2 custom map" contest and try to push for people to make good stuff.

It's got more to do with how easy the toolset is to use and how many developers feel like putting in the effort.

i suspect playerbase is related to dev motivation
