I quit SC2 after that bullshit ZvZ final in Wings where broodlords just shot broodlings at each other for like 10 minutes with no other action. I've played a couple of games over the past several months but it's just not fun anymore. However, for a while I kept rooting for it to succeed because I love SC and that's how I found TL. That being said, it's hard not to experience some schadenfreude about SC2 dying when reading that thread and seeing people pull shit like "we didn't want ESEX and they were mediocre anyway" or just straight up shitting on hot_bid. Reading the thread was actually bizarrely satisfying in that I'm glad the fucks posting nonsense get a shitty game. | ||

+ Show Spoiler + For some reason the StarCraft portion of Team Liquid is blocked so all I can do is go on LD but during this time I really realized without TL my interest in SC2 is basically dead. I went back to playing SC2 at the Diamond level but found the game so unsatisfying and poorly designed I stopped playing again. It's amazing how much SC2 is held afloat by Liquid because without it I think my interest in SC2 would have died around 2011 easily. Now people say how great ProLeague or that 1v1 league is but I don't have the time to watch VoDs and can't watch it live, so the "passion" is mostly on the other side of the world to me. I want to love SC2 but after being away from the game for a while I realize it just isn't fun and unless LotV changes things dramatically I really don't think I will be watching it except for maybe a few major tournaments here and there. Honestly I'm more interested in the new Brood War tournaments than anything SC2 is offering lately which is pretty sad. | ||

The community is to precious about the game and any changes. Every expansion and change is fill with 40 page threads with people either balance whining about the pight of their race or something along the line of "think of the pro players, especially the Korean ones" The players are still fun to follow and the game is fun to watch. Live report threads are still good, but everything else isn't worth my time. | ||

I only ever got to play intermittently, so I would be able to binge for a weekend and then be too busy to touch it for weeks, and the upkeep was just crushing. It felt like whenever I came back to it, I had to spend half my time grinding new BOs in botmatches or lose ten games straight to cheese that didn't exist before. At least in dota I can drop it for a while, come back and be a little rusty at worst. | ||
