Also compairing doto to regular sports is dumb unless the athletes get super powers each time they score. In a physical combat sport, such as boxing or MMA, whenever you get hit by your opponent you lose some of your ability to fight. It's even worse if you get hit on the head. It would be like if, after every boxing round, the boxer who got the fewest hits on the opposition got a pair of brass knuckles. except in dota, the boxer who gets the most hits on the opposition gets a pair of brass knuckles. We are talking about the comeback mechanic here, which gives the team who is behind a chance to get a lucky pickoff or a lucky teamfight and turn the entire game around. The brass knuckles give the boxer who is behind the ability to cave in the skull of his opponent, similar to how a single nasty teamfight can erase a huge lead instantly.
The situation for a normal game of DOTA, where the team that is ahead has a better chance of continuing to get ahead, is adequately explained for by the way that beating someone up allows you to beat him up even more in the future.
My analogy is actually pretty great.
Also, Storm is fun to 1v1 solo mid with.

except its bad, because you can only take things away in boxing, in dota, you gain things

because the relative strength is changing in both ways in dota
In dota, killing your enemies not only weakens them, it empowers you. You are not only smacking them down and making it easier for you to beat them up, you're also equipping yourself to be more powerful at the same time, a-la brass fucking knuckles.

The comeback mechanic likely needs tweaking, but comebacks are what make for exciting games. Pros are not really all about tense exciting games and would just like to get a lead and keep it for the entire game.
Or that's what they think when they are not the team that is behind.

The issue is mostly the source of the comeback. It shouldn't be from hero kills. DOTA2 is a game where it is incredibly easy to kill heroes. You can kill a hero in the blink of an eye at any stage in the game. All it takes is a moment of oversight, and a hero dies. This makes it incredibly easy for a team who is behind to come back simply because of the natural variance in the game. Comebacks should be possible thanks to efficient use of the map, which is not something that happens in the blink of an eye and thanks to a miniscule mistake, but slowly and due to careful positioning and clever play. To be precise: they should come from rat doto. A team that wins thanks to rat doto does so by showcasing an extremely high level of play. Of course, the team that is ahead needs to have some means of staying ahead and/or ending the game by taking objectives, which naturally should be towers and Roshan. The comeback mechanic stops them from doing this by making the necessary defense the means of the comeback. The losing team should be trying to stop those fights, and when forced into them should be trying desperately to rebuff the enemy team without taking too much damage. The winning team should be trying to force those fights, and when they can accomplish them should be seeking to break the losing team as badly as possible. Right now, sadly, the situation is that the winning team hates to force fights because the fights are where they risk losing it all. The further ahead you are, the less you want to force the issue. This is a sad state of affairs.

so the boxer that gets the least amount of hits should get a huge boost after they manage to land one after getting creamed?

Just because pros don't like the risk doesn't mean it's bad for viewers or dota.
But we all agree, fuck troll.

I don't get why the miss chance is so high, isn't the hero a strong enough manfighter already with the ult and passive? 50% or even lower sounds more reasonable to me.
