I think he's a really good pick vs jugg because you can lock him down through bladefury and mitigate omnislash a lot assuming you go necro, but other than that, don't think he really has a place in the current meta

He needs more mana regen than just Bottle and a Basi/Vlads can reasonably give, he needs to keep a Blink, he doesn't build into a good right-clicker, and he doesn't get much from serious Int builds. People generally just build the Necro as a sort of compromise or else go for something like the mass aura build or super mobility Blink+Force. It's all so awkward, because he's a jack-of-all-trades who's so lackluster at everything that he might as well do nothing. The only times that he's looked good to me are as a support, when it manages to work. Then he's more on the level of a Bane without any channeling for his ult and free mobile wards.

Don't know how it's "underwhelming". Not that much different from any other nukes in this game. Boar is good, it's like a skadi slow through magic immunity. i.e. nice vs spin early/mid game. Boar is a bit less strong later because he dies so quick. Especially if he gets Sven stunned. Bird is good. Don't know how you can say "real teams don't usually need the vision". That is such a wrong statement sorry. Aura is good. And his ult is amazing. On March 28 2015 16:49 Acritter wrote: Not to mention terrible stats and a bad setup for item builds. Nah Bottle or Soul ring is kinda all you need. He doesn't have that much mana issues.. Necro is also definitely the item to go for on him because it scales really good with his aura and it's a way for him to remove Linken's without much hassle. The reason Beastmaster isn't picked that much is because he needs a lot of levels so he's kinda bad as a support. He doesn't scale well enough to be physical damage mid and he has very weak escape for an offlane. + They nerfed his axes vs ancients so farming those are not as good anymore. I just feel like Batrider is more scary to play against than Beastmaster. So rather pick Bat for offlane. Right now I feel Beastmaster suffers from the Omniknight complex. His skills are obviously really good, it's just hard to lane him without intentionally losing that lane. I think he fits best as a mid with a carry safelane and offlane. Like normal safelane carry + like Void offlane. But he loses a lot of the mid matchups atm, and can't afford to lose the lane vs the commonly picked heroes now. Storm / SF benefits far too much of a good start.
