Impeachment just means he's been formally charged by the House of Representatives (the larger chamber of US government that is re-elected every 2 years). This takes a simple majority. It's similar to an indictment - it means that they think there is sufficient evidence for a trial.
To remove him requires 67/100 votes (2/3 of the Senate) for conviction in the Senate, which is controlled by his party though not overwhelmingly (53-47). General consensus is <10% chance he's convicted. The threshold is insanely high - Andrew Johnson fell short by 1 vote after basically trying to undo all of Lincoln's efforts during the Civil War after Lincoln was assassinated. It would have removed Nixon, which is why he resigned, but has only ever actually had a final effect on his presidency.
He's being charged with two articles that are essentially groups of crimes. Abuse of Power - This is for his dealings with Ukraine with regards to withholding military aid in return for an announcement of an investigation into Biden's (the current Democratic presidential frontrunner) family. Obstruction of Congress - For refusing to cooperate with the investigation into the Ukraine scandal. Previous presidents have stonewalled investigations by withholding key witnesses, but he told ALL employees not to cooperate at all.
There's no real question of whether or not he did these things by any but the most extreme partisans (some argue that he did them for what he thought were good reasons, but he still did them), the question is whether it is serious enough to justify removing him.
If you're wondering why abuse of power and not extortion/bribery - It doesn't meet the US legal definition of bribery/extortion and the democrats wanted to avoid getting bogged down in that conversation (the legal definition and the constitutional one aren't related). US constitution only lists four crimes as valid reasons for impeachment but two are very broad : Treason, bribery, high crimes, and misdemeanors. In the US, treason only applies during active wars, so no, no one can be guilty of it since 1950s. Abuse of power has been one of the things that impeachment has been used for with regards to lower elected offices throughout history (high crime/misdemeanor) and is thought to fit the Ukraine deal.

I only knew about the house majority only meant that Trump will be tried on the senate which has the real power to remove him tho it is slim chance cause there is almost as much republicans as democrats whereas the removing of him required 2/3 votes of the senate body.
But this is so much details thanks !

Why is TL allowing 0 posts accounts to create threads ? The worst that can happen is a pro having to pm a mod to be an exception The best would be having bots spamming messages in threads, but they already do that :o Also on Trump, can't the democrats just make a video with all his appearances on TV/his tweets where he confirms he did it?
