The doctor that did my wisdom teeth would only put patients under anesthesia. I wasn't sure if that was just his thing, or if it was starting to become law (or at least highly preferred) in some places.

Lets just say I was happy to be put under though. My brother had to be awake for his, but they didn't need to crush the teeth or do any extensive cutting to get them out so it was just a few minutes of hard tugging/pulling to put up with

When I had my wisdom tooth extracted I had local freezing. It was an impacted tooth (angled like 45º or 90º I can't remember) so they had to crack it into four and remove the pieces bit by bit. It wasn't too bad actually, despite having to hear the sound of drilling for like 30 minutes.

P.S. the answer is because i've read 95% of the stuff in my degree i.e. cases and texts on a screen and my eyes want a break also new books smell nice
