I'm pretty sure that Brian Fargo wasnt involved in New Vegas at least. I think its the same marketing strategy they use with movies. Chris Avellone was a key person in FO2 though(Director with Tim Cain), and he was senior designer on new vegas. Then you have someone like Joshua Sawyer that worked on Van Buren as a lead designer(Original Fallout 3, which was cancelled). Scott Everts also worked on New Vegas and he designed ALL maps in the original Fallout game and a third in Fallout 2 as a technical designer. He was the lead world builder of New Vegas. So not the same team but they definitely had plenty of inputs from people that had their hands deep in the first 2(3) games.

Frankly I think Bethesda FP-RPGs have been garbage for years and I don't see that trend changing with Starfield or TES6. The first Bethesda game I was hyped for was Oblivion after discovering Morrowind shortly before Oblivions release for myself. Everything they've released since then just felt like an Oblivion mod to me. Skyrim was another Oblivion with better graphics. Fallout is just an apocalypse themed Oblivion, etc. The gamebryo engine is totally bland and has the same bugs across all games. Even the writing and quest design is all the same. It feels like someone designed levels in a sandbox without the fun of multiplayer madness of Garrys Mod or Minecraft. Long story short, Bethesda has released plenty of games that have been kind to my wallet because I don't have time for the same stuff over and over.

Frankly I think Bethesda FP-RPGs have been garbage for years and I don't see that trend changing with Starfield or TES6. If anything it will get worse as they accelerate into less meaningful things and more and more chore-like behavior. Everything is just so surface level in the Bethesda RPGs and on rails despite being an open world game. Fo4 and Skyrim especially are just 1,000 small almost completely separate adventures spread out over a huge open world. Even worse none of your interactions ever matters really (steal from someone? Just pay off the fine and it's like nothing happened!) Morrowind was really broken as a game like all the Bethesda ones, but it definitely felt the most cohesive and the one with the most emergent behavior. At the very least you had stupid stuff like the mega jump spells and what not.

I skipped out on Fallout 4 and I'm glad I did because it looks like an even more dumbed down Fallout 3 with the same problems amplified, on top of transitioning the series and Bethesda's formula even further down into a single-player MMO with thoughtless lootershooter loot mechanics. Fallout 76 is a disaster I won't even touch because we all know what it is. Bethesda feels like a studio that is being directed by their Zenimax corporate overlords to strip away all the soul they had to create lowest common denominator "RPG" experiences they can market extremely well. I just don't really get the appeal because once you've played one Bethesda RPG post-Oblivion, you've played them all. Is being able to hold a fork in-game really that compelling and sellable? So many other studios have surpassed what Bethesda offered, so the novelty's faded.

The only thing I disliked about Oblivion were those hell gate things, the game came to a halt and I stopped playing after clearing like four of them. Never went back and finished it lol
