I think having skyboxes is a good idea. Within the theatre, there shouldn't be people running up to the players and asking autographs/photos and stuff like that. If too many people do that, it will block the views and distract from the main stage happenings.
Teams might also want to discuss strategies while watching the games. It gives the players preparing and enjoying the most important times of their life some free space and time.
Oh and it can make it very easy to capture the reactions of the players all together in a camera. Imagine a sick play by Ferrari and all the players upstairs holding their breath.
Autographs and photos and hand shaking can be done outside where there are a lot more room.
they're really good tbh, 69,659 concurrent ingame viewers. over 275k unique ingame spectators.
Isn't that JUST for in-game, too? That's not even counting all the stream viewers, which was definitely just as many, if not more. Almost every game that both Tobi and v1lat casted had around 20k-30k each, not including all the other casters who had anywhere from 2k-10k per game. That's all estimated viewers based on what I saw and read about the stream numbers though, so someone correct me if I'm way off somehow.
275k is just in game i believe. Valve has quoted numbers several times and it has only been from the In game spectating.
The streams numbers are really hard to quantify since there are 10+ streams running at the same time in various languages. Not to mention Chinese streams that are not on own3d or twitch. I think it's very fair of Valve not to try to present the numbers in an inflated way by adding up all the stream viewers + spec numbers ( many of which are duplicates) I always hated it when MLG did so.

Yes, I believe the numbers Valve put on their blog are just for the in-game spectating, not the streams.

Also, I expect to see Valve putting up exact, combined numbers for the bracket stage once the tournament is over. Valve will have full access to the numbers from DotaTV and every stream since all the official streams will be ran by Valve overseeing the commentators they invited (i.e. TobiWan will probably be casting from an official TI2 Valve stream, and not the unofficial JoinDOTA livestream like in the group stages). Hopefully we also can get the exact numbers from the Chinese streams since Valve will also be overseeing those as well, because a lot of Chinese casters are going to be right there in the building streaming the games. All these numbers combined will probably be hugeeeee and I can't wait.

I have been doing alot of 3/4 stack lately and it is certainly better than just me and mate queuing together. But the thing is you need have good players in your team otherwise game will be very tough because you always matched against good players when you are playing in stack.
meh... we are usually playing high/very high bracket. how can it be that in there we have total noobs that cant even play sk somewhat decently. why do they end up in games like that?
It may be the first time they played the hero. They may be having an awful day. They may have been carried by a friend and is now trying a diferent role solo. They may be drunk. They may be messing around. There are plenty of reasons that may happen, but a "total noob" won't reach the very high skill bracket. He has to have games where they played decently. Everyone has games where they look awful to be honest.
true but in this game for example we played with another 2 man team. he was the single guy and maybe the system really reaches too far down to balance stacks out.
well whatever, just angry after 4 straight losses of which 3 shouldve been ez wins <.<
Played a game yesterday where a guy had 450 wins, died in the jungle as ds and claimed he had never played DS before. I looked in his match history and it's 5 pages straight of AM/Morphling. I wasn't sure what to think.
A little question. Is the Dota2 team Zenith (who is in The International) the same team who's Sc2 division merged with NEX to become ZeNEX (which later StarTale absorbed)?

Posted this in the announcement thread but it kind of got lost so I'll try here:
"Is anyone having problems with Dota 2 section appearing? It appears and disappears a lot for me (disappears as in it is totally absent from sidebar, menus go from SC2 to BW). When I'm logged in seems fine, but sometimes when I'm not logged in and just browsing doesn't show up."
