Disappointed that they took off Guinsoo's name from Guinsoo's Scythe (Eul's stayed). Guinsoo basically built up a huge part of DotA (yes, it was popular and flooded all of WC3 customs before Icefrog even took over). A lot of the things (item recipes, etc) were his idea AFAIK (Eul's version of Dota was very basic). Now, they did also take off all references to items based on Blizzard games (Like the +25 STR reaver + the crossbow from Diablo) too but still, considering they took kept Eul's name, IMO they should have kept Guinsoo's name on the item. I'm sure no one really cares that much but honestly, it would have felt nicer to see the name kept on the item. I guess, it would have felt a bit more positive rather than negative. I do know Guinsoo and Icefrog sort of separated after Guinsoo advertised LoL on the (old) official DotA forums way back but before that, they had a positive relationship and it's a bit sad to see it really end I guess....(*cries) | ||

Well if you put it that way, that makes things sound better  .Though is it really the main reason? I mean, it would be silly for Guinsoo to sue a very liked game basically advertising his name (precautions I guess considering Blizzard tried to sue Valve?) or they could have asked his permission to keep the name (I think they should if possible). It is kind of silly for me to get upset over this but it's a bit saddening considering how positive their relationship was before (at least AFAIK Guinsoo gave DotA to Icefrog on friendly terms). | ||

if i remember correctly what happened was guinsoo was lead developer and had full control with icefrog and co under him, but then guinsoo took a long break so icefrog and a couple other devs started editing and releasing the map themselves | ||

, I didn't know that. I did remember how long it took for 5.84 (I think Guinsoo's last version or at least the last one with his name on it AFAIK) to get to 6.0x so that makes sense. | ||

Basically guinsoo awoled, ice opened the map, mantis worked on it, guin was pissed at ice (somewhat understandably I guess), then he and pend decided to screw the pooch, make LoL and shut down DA.com, ice had an argument with pendragon, left DA.com and made playdota. | ||

They also initially never wanted to shut down DA.com. This was around the time that Pendragon started working on LoL and he wanted to commercialise DA, advertising LoL etc. Icefrog disagreed with this and he left to make playdota. | ||
