It seems really silly that you can spam spells and fight toe to toe with someone for 10 seconds and still be at half hp. Booooooring. Was dota 1 like that? Or has it always been a game of short fights and quick kills? As someone who has never played the first one, I was always curious as to whether dota 2 replicated everything properly.
Edit: also, holy balls is league ugly. I saw a tower die, and the animation was hilariously bad.
This is never ending story. Dota community will always see League of Legends as a bad game with ugly graphics.

Are we really talking about this? People like league. People like smash. People like SF4. Some people like Titan fall.
Who cares why people watch a thing or enjoy it? Are you really that bothered by the large number of viewer for LoL that you feel the need to shit on it? Are you that insecure?

League Twitch viewers usually is about 50% (if not more) just view bots anyway, so who cares.

Except for the who cares part. Nobody cares about any of this discussion.

That's really all I wanted to know. I didn't mean to ignite a shitstorm with my opinion on 5 mins of league gameplay lol. Damn people jumped all over that.

DotA hasn't always been a game of short fights and quick kills though.
Icefrog's just worked very hard over the last few games to make games shorter and faster, and to prevent overly long farming phases from dominating games.

Playing more Limited Heroes isn't a bad idea; individual matchups come up frequently enough that you can learn them and focus on your technicals without any rude surprises. Going back to the Last Hit Practice occasionally is a good idea. The CPU opponent is a joke, with melee heroes getting very passive opponents, but being able to collect 60+ last hits during the laning phase if your opponents let you will eventually become critical. Using Least Played to try out specific new heroes levels the experience issues somewhat. All Pick is kinda the standard intro level Ranked mode; it's for grinding out games on your favorite heroes to get good at them. Just be willing to play whichever of several heroes/roles your team needs before you start. All Random and Single Draft are for branching out and fishing for new characters to maybe add to your repertoire. Or for more casual play. Captain's Mode is for when you can, at minimum, tell the team captain "I'm good at these 6 heroes; please pick one of them". Although that list should include both carries and supports. Captain's Draft and Random Draft require you to be at least a little familiar with almost everyone. And I don't know about Ability Draft.
