Whats cool about any of that? Its not very hard to make any gens pokemon look bad, because its a video game and thus subjective tastes. idk i felt their design was more grounded i mean compare your first gen descriptions with the new ones + Show Spoiler + ![]() one's a blue frog with a bunny tail with odd proportions, another is a fennec fox with random tuffs of fur everywhere, and I have no fucking clue what the plant type is supposed to be gen 5 was even worse On June 12 2014 06:50 Unleashing wrote: Then you should like gen 2 too since most of the mons in gen 2 were designed alongside gen 1 and could've easily made an appearance in gen 1 ![]() Also honestly, the design formula hasn't changed much(Although there is definitely changes from gen to gen so you can definitely have gen preferences) so i'd say yes it's notalgia goggles if you think it's because the new designs are dumb ![]() Gen 5 gave us trash-pokémon(As in actual trash not bad design) while gen 1 gave us sludge-pokémon. Gen 5 gave us a pokémon that was just gears while gen 1 gave us pokémon that were just magnets. Etc. They really aren't that different. I was ok with the gen2 as well, for some reason I think I grew out of pokemon by the time it came out

Those are bubbles. It's a blue frog with bubbles around its neck based on the Grey foam-nest tree frog. Random tuffs of fur? They're meant to give it a fire-ish look which they achieved, and it's also utilized in later evolutions. And the plant type is a hedgehog with a chestnut design going for it.

And there's also the Sephiroth mommy issues... FFT had the best plot in the system. Or at least the one that wasn't fucking weird. FFT also had the best combination of fantasy/futuristic elements imo (though almost every FF has a variant of it). Still, FF8 holds a special place in my heart despite the weird junction system.

Chespin is based on the first mammal so it fits perfectly design wise. All the fire type starters are based on the Chinese zodiac. Once again it fits perfectly Not actually sure what water starters are based on.

I guess you could say charizard's a dragon? that's quite the stretch tho also cyndaquil is a beaver-porcupine-hedgehog hybrid thing and last I checked the zodiac didn't have any of those either

Also its been part of the dragon egg group since gen 2. Once again its a dragon. Everything in the games/manga/anime point to charizard being a dragon so I'm not sure how you can possibly think its a stretch. Cyndaquil fits the rat IIRC
