If the mechanic is that underpowered why does there need to be a specific exception for ranged heroes? Don't melee heroes get more use out of it anyway as they'll tank more right clicks in general? Would removing the ranged restriction on Vanguard send it back to the days of core on every hero? No, because of the other nerfs it received and the rise of items like Drums and Mek. It's not core on every melee hero anymore as well. Could be passable on some heroes and even ocasionally good, but not core on everything like it was. I wouldn't be surprising if people didn't build Vanguard on everything even if they reverted the HP nerf as well.

And back then there was still no dota 2.

Kind of fun, I like the idea of VanG to encourage more diving & aggression. I remember when we were betting cash all the time when we play against another team in internet cafe's. The entire team would buy vanguard. And oh i bought a lot of DK guinsoo(scyte of vyse for those who didn't play dota 1) after mechanism back then.

You have a Vanguard and then get a Stout Shield (on a melee hero): Since you got the Stout Shield last you have a 60% chance to block 20 damage, a 28% chance to take 40 less damage and 12% chance to take normal damage.

Both posts say the same thing. They are check in reverse order of acquistion, but both cannot proc in the same attack. You can't block 20+40 damage.

I'm actually super confused about how the distribution works. christ i was joking about the face/o German humor does not comprehend.

I would love to see alch carry back into the pool though. Just to so that we see unfamiliar carries once in a while. I also have to urge too see a max attack speed permabashing alch which i have not seen lately.

If you get AA on your side or get him banned out altogether, Alch could be fairly good. I'm seeing Alch as a strong situational carry. Sorta like, say, CK. Although CK is more about who's on your team (Wisp) than who's on the enemy team. On April 17 2014 03:58 goody153 wrote: Alch is weird hero. Everytime i see him played as a carry it's either he deals too much damage or can't even kill a single enemy at all. Maybe that's just me. I would love to see alch carry back into the pool though. I think that's totally based on how well he does early game. If he gets shut down in lane, he never gets the gold advantage that lets him snowball into a net worth to make Burning cream his pants. If he does well in lane, then it's like what Hanni just pulled off.

Okay so here's a question I have that regards my crack usage again: I bought a MoM and a Deso on Naix the other day - does this check for order of aquisition? At first, my deso wasn't proccing and only the lifesteal was, but then i dropped the MoM (I think) and picked it up again and the deso was proccing instead of the lifesteal. Im not at home so I can't check the replay, but I feel like it shouldn't work that way. Crack?

Correct, orbs in the same priority level use order of acquisition when deciding which one procs.
