and how do you explain that every qualified team so far did absouletly horrible in the main event while teams like fnatic or liquid who didnt really won much earlier placed in the top8?

no I just believe fnatic would get consistently crushed by both C9 and EG as is now
Here is how I see it
8 direct invites should go out
EU:navi alliance C9
China:iG,VG,DK
US:EG
SEA:w/e
and ofc it matters more what happens right now,the team that's good now obviously has more potential to do well at TI than some team that's on a downward spiral or mediocre
and I'm not saying fnatic is bad I just think valve should cut down on direct invites that's all

so if you win once and then dont do shit again you are better than someone who is constantly second? you cant honestly believe that.

both C9 and EG have better results as they actually won something
I guess you mean EU teams, but I consider C9 eu I guess since they have 3 players there, not sure how that's going to be handled

"ok results" ? The only teams with better results than Fnatic since TI3 are Alliance and Na'Vi. I don't think this qualifies as "ok results" and personally, I think this does warrant an invite.

idk i disagree
I don't think roster stability and "ok results" should equal a direct invite to the biggest thing of the year
If anything the qualifier should be expanded and teams that are clearly a cut above should be given some sort of shorter path to qualifying as opposed to some bozo team but thats about it
fuck freebie invites i wanna see blood, sweat and tears

But that's wrong, Fnatic have done well ever since TI3, they haven't won any notable tournaments but they have landed a good deal of second places and overall done really well compared to the competition.
Stability + overall good results = of course they will be invited.

because they haven't actually done anything notable aside from winning that captains draft tournament, which was yea a captains draft
I mean I'm not even sure I would give empire a direct invite
were talking about a direct invite to the biggest tournament of the year,I don't get why you guys think teams that didn't actually win a decent tournament through the year and just did ok deserve a invite
if the team is good they are going to emerge through the qualifier i dont see what the deal is

Stability together with pretty good overall results since TI3.
Why would they not deserve it?

It goes both ways, since after TI2 there were less Chinese Invites (1,3,4) than EU for TI3
The rough distribution should be EU > China > SEA = NA, with what is likely to be 5 Eastern and 6 Western invites overall
