Now, I like Empire, but why exactly would they get an invite? They have good records playing online, but like no 'TI worthy' results. I mean they're not any more impressive than Sigma's for example. And TI invites have never appeared to be about how strong teams are by the date the invites go out, but by what you've actually achieved during the post TI season.
because invites are region based. Empire are by far the strongest Russian team.

Its the patchnumber. Like, CIS, PR (allways) and Empire do better then expected this patch. Same shit within sc2, if they select players or teams over a period of a year, a quarter of good results could well be not enough for an invite. I think empire is rated alot higher then sigma, though. I think the teams below will certainly be invited if there are enough invites.

I like that CIS and PR but i dont think they will be invited, so qualifiers it is!
Empire is good old organisation, they have alot fans in the cis scene, they have long term success, their funnik team was extremely good, now their new roster is definitely at top of cis scene,to me sounds like a good team to invite.

There are teams who have better results than Empire.
u for real empire is already qualified for starladder finals empire is 3/4 in d2cl empire is in mlg tko finals empire is currently #2 in dreamleague empire is in jdl finals after being #1 in season

I hope Empire gets an invite because god knows they deserve it, they are just really cool(their twitter is awesome btw) and if I remember correctly were not invited to some tournaments despite them performing quite well.
Yeah empire got screwed on invites a few times. They weren't that good at that stage either but disaster tier 11 teams got invited over them due to sponsorship deals.

None of these are concrete results.
Look, I'm sure in a month, Empire will have the results. But in the period where the invites are being decided (which they probably already have been), they just didn't. They had a good run in a lot of online tournaments, that's all they had.
Really the only relevant result they have is the ESWC win.
