People make the mistake of strictly comparing themselves on carry to the one they have on their team. They think things like "if I had this much space I'd be 6 slotted but this guy sucks at csing QQ". The thing is if you were playing carry your mid might not have had a courier, every lane may have lost because there was no support to help, that guy might have picked carry anyway and competed with you for farm, etc...

If you want to win in solo q I think the best is mid or picking what the team needs. Even mid is risky at a certain points since you vs stacks/supports that camp mid all day making your life difficult.

its not all about csing. in a certain ranking group i kinda expect that the guy who picks AM knows how to splitpush. the same goes for naga. i had to play with this guy who couldnt even split his 3 illusions to farm...i mean if you cant micro just dont go for radiance...

It doesn't matter what role you are your rating will go up in the long run if you play well.

Also the people blaming their carries sucking are probably just equally bad on supports (or similar skilled as their team). There's just no other way to put it.

The problem isn't that the guy played bad, the problem is that you let the game get to a point where how he played matters.

Pretty much all pub teams are going to have at least one "worst player" get carried. But if the good players on the team play well enough, how bad the guy getting carried plays doesn't matter.

TBH IMO having that worst player on safe lane carry actually results in the easiest time winning because by nature that hero has the lowest impact on how the early game plays, so if the other 4 play the early game well, they can make the game unthrowable before the worst player being bad actually could lose you the game.

The solos being bad is harder (particularly mid) because if that's the case, unless a support got really fed off early kills, it's unlikely that someone has the appropriate combination of farm and hero choice to develop the midgame tempo for the team.

game is never unthrowable and sometimes your heros / lineups are not suitable for early agression, even if you have a support. I'd rather have a bad support and a 6slotted antimage at 30 minutes than a godlike support and antimage without bf at 35 minutes.

I remember IXDL games from way back where TC on AM was bitching "Where's my space creators?". AM doesn't get 6-slotted at 30mins by himself u know.

there is still your mid, your offlaner and another support - you can do extra work making up for one bad support but if you carry has nothing at 30 minutes you can't do anything about it. It is often not possible to win the game before 20 minutes. You can get a big advantage but at the end of the day the carry often makes or breaks the game.

/e in the proscene we often see the best player on a team taking mid or carry positions - do you think if rtz would be support his team would win as much? or if corey was support and purge would be their carry they would win games?

It's actually more common that the reverse is true. If mid, offlane, or jungle are farmed enough, many of those heroes develop into strong lategame heroes anyway. You just can't get there if you can't get the advantage for them to do so in early fights.

You don't need to outright win the game for the carry's farm to not matter at 30 minutes if your mid hero is ahead enough to have more items than the enemy carry and is playing a reasonable physical damage lategame hero like QoP or Viper.

Wat about 4-god or EE-sama. Okay 4-god is now (5) but circa TI2 I think he was the weakest player on Na'Vi. Also Loda. Also Illidan Stormrage.

Its not uncommon for good teams to have weaker carries.

Yeah I would disagree with the best player on a pro team often being the carry.

The thing is, the carry acts as an anchor for games that aren't blowouts and in a relatively stable game, the carries' development starts to matter a lot.

Most pub games aren't stable games. On the whole pubs tend to be a lot more wild, unstable and snowbally than pro games, with single lanes crushing super hard, etc., so the comparison to pro games isn't really apt regardless.

Truth. He is good in theory, but is in practice kind of the worse. His steam is borderline painful to watch. Unlike Dendi's stream, which is alway a blast because he doesn't pick the greediest hero possible every damn game.

I think EE would be amazing as a coach, in individual games he seems to be a little caught up in what he thinks is right, leading to awkward situations as never having a BKB when he needs it.

However, a lot of his ideas were very influential, ancient stacking, dual lane mids, and I think he really knows how to play 6.78 well. In other words, kick EE, grab a replacement and win TI4

EDIT:

That isn't saying much really...
Once is an accident. Twice is coincidence. Three times is an enemy action. Bus Driver can never target themselves I'm sorry
