There's so many problems about Earth, and a few of them would be fine, but they all sum up to this ridiculously imbalanced hero. Change one or two parts of him and hes fine.

Or just nerf him into oblivion and I'm fine with that.

Speaking of Earth Spirit, there was this funny moment on AdmiralBulldogs stream yesterday where he reported a dude with the reason "Intentionally picking earth ass". Obviously, this guy is considered OP even at the highest levels, just like broodmother.

Best ES stream moment was Eternal Envy commending someone on his team with "Good Earth Spirit player" and then immediately going to report him for the same reason.

Sadly, turns out you can't commend and report the same person.

This is the old unranked distribution from the dota 2 blog

50% 2250
75% 2731
90% 3200
95% 3900
99% 4100

The distribution is probably roughly the same now. It'll definitely be different for ranked though, since only the top X% or whatever of players will probably play ranked.

I very much doubt that I am in top 99% with a rating of 4600.

I think most are between 2000-4000 but there should still be a good % amount at 4000-5000 etc

I don't think Brood is at all overpowered but the way she's designed right now is an abomination and not at all fun to play with or against.

The playstyle of brood hasn't really changed though.. So don't think the design is going to change.

To be fair, the skill difference could make people believe there was a huuuge difference in numbers.

There isn't probably that much skill difference between a 3.2k and 4.2k MMR, but I assume the difference in skill between 4.2k and 5.2k is huge.

There's a huge skill difference between a 3.2k player and a 4.2k player. It's not even close. The 4.2k player has significant skills that are far beyond that of a 3.2k player, similar to the gap between a 4.2k player and a 5.2k player.

I went from 3.6k to 4.1k since ranked got out, I don't feel like I became better, I just grinded games.

So Volvo was kind enough to let people leave without punishment like some month ago and 50+% of ranked games being disbanded after picks because something doesnt fit.

As I understand it one of the theories around matchmaking is the game simply locks players into slots as they become available. So the game will lock in someone of a particular MMR and then expand the search range around them to draw in similar MMR players in an ever-expanding radius until all of the slots are filled.

So going by this model the Blue/Pink are those players roughly in the middle of the MMR whilst everyone else are the first players encountered on either side of that MMR level which aren't already "claimed" by a different game in the system.

Makes a lot of sense really; would be a fairly simple and effective way to select for matchmaking (by taking one player as the baseline and shoving people into the game from around that baseline). Although it breaks down when you get to the very top or very bottom, because players at the bottom will tend to have more players above them and players at the top will tend to have more below them.
