I think when people get more confident you won't be seeing him banned as much. There are ways to deal with lycan, note that i said EASY way. The second lycan is left unaccounted for past 20 minutes he will get a tower/roshan anytime he's left alone. And his damage midgame is also good enough for him to fight once he has a BKB. It really doesn't have a lot to do with being confident, Lycan is just so incredibly strong. He's been first pick first ban even in china for a while now. Lycan can kill towers trough BD-regen even at the mid-game.
I'm not saying it's impossible to handle a lycan, but his win-rate speaks for itself, he's near impossible to hold down if he has even a semi-decent start.
He can: Carry easily mid-game with amazing damage during his ult. Solo push amazingly easy and incredibly fast. Solo roshan without a problem really early.

Still waiting on people to have enough "confidence" for him to not be the 2nd most banned hero in Chinese competitive play.

Well batrider was deemed "more annoying to play against than anything, ever" quite a few versions ago.

How the hell is this going to affect the Gigabyte DotA Masters, seeing as both CLC and EHOME have spots in the tournament? Obviously they can't compete for both teams.

sorry noob question, but why is necrolyte considered a counter to pudge? the others i get, but necrolyte seems like perfect pudge target

EDIT: and % based hp loss aura, how could i forget that. If you have 2k hp it means 20 hp sec. Pudge has often way more than that.

pudge deals damage at melee range, nec nuke heals and has a short range pudge expends hp to deal damage, nec ult deals damage based on hp lost that said, nec is still food for the first 20 or so minutes of the game
nec in general is quite good against fat tanky heroes in certain situations, in this one its just to emphasis the point that people hard counter him by randomly naming what, off the top of his head, are counters to showcase how people "pick to counter him"

Most pudges have a pipe by then and built in magic resistance from flesh heap and the base magic resistance. If you use necro ult at 50%, pudge wont die But necro deals %-based damage and his ult is a decent finisher, but i wouldn't look at him as a counter to pudge, maybe a counter to huskar? Idk.

Ofc he isn't THE COUNTER to Pudge, he is THE COUNTER to BKBless huskar But his spells dealing more damage the more hp you have make him good against pudge, same for nai'x.

Now that i think about it, ofc nec is the ultimate counter to huskar :D
|
I'd say he's a counter to STR carries, or just STR heroes in general.
|
I'd be interested to see necro against morphling. As we know morphling is hard to kill due to morph, and the rest of his skills of course, however if he goes below a set amount of health necro can kill him off regardless of how much strength he morphs..
Hmmm.
