But I also try to be super outgoing when I solo cue to head off any agro players. It works from me, but I might have gotten lucky. I solo queue everything except AP. CM is generally fine in my experience. CD is a little...eh but is typically ok if people are talking. If you get a Captain who flat out will not talk, however, you can end up in a whole world of pain.

I find drafts to be a lot less selfish in solo CM, but in Solo CD the person will find one cute hero they really want to play and last pick it to make a completely illogical lineup. Just my experience though.

well true, but to me Sylar is one of the most surprising. To me, he was the best carry in the world on LGD (~TI3) - now he doesn't really seem to make any good decisions at all.

Honestly people way overreacted to Sylar leaving LGD, saying that team was doomed from losing their best player, etc. The thing is, that team's playstyle can make any carry player look like a god. Look at Xiaotuji before he joined LGD, and look now. The team just has a style that's incredibly carry-centric, but the real work of winning the game is still on the other 4 players, despite how much they make their carry shine every game.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that - it might have been more to do with LGD's 4, and their playstyle that seems to really emphasize on the carry looking like a carry (as opposed to, say, Xboct's crazy fighting dota)

I agree with the assessment that LGD playstyle lends itself to highlight the carry, but Sylar was playing some miraculous dota for awhile leading up to TI3. He was pretty underwhelming at ti3 though. :
