Oh, i never associated any special meaning to it, but I use it for its convenience cause unlike regular ping it shows up on the playing field as well as the minimap. Thus you can mark spots more precisely. | ||

Some people are lying about that thoug, need kunkka to confirm. Or visit all obelisks, this will show you where to dig for grail so you can bring it to any of your town and it's citizens will build you awesome building (Colossus, Aurora Borealis, Skyship, etc.) | ||

People ping enemy heroes all the time, and more often than not it's just to alert everyone to someone being there. There is no "supposed to mean" to it, it's all situational and requires some actual awareness of what's happening in the game to realize what they actually mean. When I see someone ping an enemy hero, I immediately look around the area on the mini-map to see who on my team is close for a response. If no one is, it's clearly someone informing you to "watch the fuck out!" You should train yourself to think of pings as only an early alert tool, not a "go here and fight", because most of the time that's not even the case. | ||

I agree, it's much more clear and intuitive to use pings as "go here" instead of "don't go here", especially in ambiguous situations in which either you or the other players may have missed something on the minimap. This is generally speaking, of course, since there are plenty of situations that a ping can mean something outside of "go/don't go here" | ||
