Or am I the only one? :D The only other stand-alone dota games I've played is like Demigod which I pirated and still feel cheated, and I played HoN in very early beta for 2 hours. I was in Uni at the time though so I didn't really need a new game to play, we played Dota every now and then on Lan but I probably didn't play games for more than 50 hours per year during Uni. | ||

The main reasons are that it has a really nice ranking system (I actually want to play in order to get to plat/dia), it is almost completly russian free and it is fun learning new champs(!) and their spells. Dota 2 would outlclass League in every aspect if they'd implement more competitive features and enforce region locking. | ||

If you put it in DotA, there's nothing that would stop people from queuing multiple regions anyway because there's no gameplay impact for making a new account. In general, I'm pretty mixed on the ups and downs of region locking. I get that people don't want to play with people who don't speak their language, but it's also a pretty huge bummer to not be able to play with EU friends in LoL unless one of us is smurfing. | ||

What if you want to play mm with your friend from another region? I'm fine with playing with Russians even when i can't really communicate with them. I can understand 75% of what they say even when I only 'know' their alphabet and I assure you that pinging and basic English like saying 'go, 'back', 'push', 'buy chick' is enough to have fun. If you really want solo ladder you can always play some ih leagues. Yes, it would be cool to have it integrated into the client but it might lead to ladder anxiety even if you had normal and ranked queue. | ||

The only people it "hurts" are those who get the same ping on different servers and want faster queues. However, it should in theory average out wait times just fine (less popular searches would take longer, admittedly, but the more popular ones would actually take less time), so I don't think that's a great reason. | ||
