Lol we had a jungling sniper in my game. Surprised we won but probably because the other team trolled and fed couriers. That's solo queue for you. Very High is still filled with the same trolls.

Sounds legit.

The thing is, In really short fights armlet is just a free 400HP or w/e for activating it (really good, outclasses other survivability items handily). If the fight is long and drawn-out then bristle is already in his element so as long as you are alive you are in business and this is where you can armlet toggle to great effect. The fact that its around 750EHP when taking damage from behind is pretty good too. The right-click parts are very much NOT "meh" on bristle and while it doesn't solve all his problems it really does do a lot for the hero.
The biggest issue then becomes that you need a way to later "recoup" the HP spent on armlet in fights, which bristle distinctly lacks. I'm willing to admit this but I don't think that it really disqualifies the item. I'm happy to hear arguments to the contrary but I was hoping they would be more substantiated than "Well the item isn't a game-changer so gg".
Obviously there are lots of situations where you can't farm an armlet in a short enough time-period for it to be particularly good. Thats fine but in that case you aren't really getting a vanguard either which is what I was recommending it over. I guess in that case you are buying a sange on the way to HH? dunno. AC is simply the item that makes or breaks the game for you on Bristle. Armlet gives you a lot, but you also pay a lot more for it than the other early game baseline stuff that you'd otherwise get. Really you want to push for that AC timing when possible because it gives you a lot of the same basic things Armlet does, but is generally a more important item to have, given the team benefit.
I don't think the item is bad by any means, but it's hardly a core item either the way many state it to be. It simply goes in the box of "early game stuff you can get before AC" along with Medallion, Urn, Drums, Vanguard, Hood, etc.

i feel like Shivas should be pretty dumb on BB, along with Urn/drums

The effect is nice, but 2700 gold worth of Intel really ends up going nowhere in the long run, given how the hero's mana consumption is basically constant the whole game. As an armor item, AC has a lot less wasted stats.

The hero has pretty significant mana consumption early but his mana demand doesn't grow and he has great Int growth for a non-Int hero, so Arcanes are really unnecessary unless you're getting a mana-using active like Mek.

Its like "well the item does something just not enough" see: old SnY. If vanguard was disassemblable it would go god-tier on bristle tho (assuming you were going pipe and/or heart at some point, usually a safe assumption on bristle). Yeah, the problem with Vanguard is that your never going to get it in under 10 minutes in off lane, which is where BB normally ends up. Armlet is good and drums to make him faster, though that is a little redundant since he has his snot powers. Movespeed changes aren't redundant until you hit 522 or they hit 100. Racecar builds prove this. Its a good item, I am just saying the farm is pretty hard for BB to get in the early game, so you have to be a little picky with your items. The part where it falls off the "fine" spectrum is where you're devoting safelane farm to a max Shrapnel Sniper.

Only legit sniper now is shrapnel sniper. Keep up with the metagame!

So umm, does shrapnel block camp spawning?
Because, based on the range of that skill you could totally use it tp stack the hard camp without hardly leaving mid lane as sniper (side independant). I'm not sure how good the shrapnel would be at clearing though, since the creeps just run out of it. Maybe stack easies or mediums instead (side dependant)?
The only issue is that as midlane sniper you probably want to be pressuring their tower (translation: killing for free) with shrapnel instead of stacking camps.

Fair enough, I suppose. I tend to use Spray to farm as well, so that understandably makes my mana consumption much higher.

Honestly Vanguard is probably THE least useful item in the game right now. Either remake it or just remove it. Also drums is still too good.

vanguard just needs to be able to be disassembled
