I mean I random every game and play SD/RD/AR so I have a good knowledge of heroes and pub gameplay but damn if actual try hard Dota isn't a completely different beast from normal/high matchmaking. | ||

Well your at the right place! Ask questions in the Ask-Yango Thread, aka Simple Question Simple Answers in dota strategy forum anytime you want. A lot of people will help. What I think most new players need isn't just time & practice, they need to learn the game from a conceptual viewpoint. I think if you do have 1500hrs ingame, but are still in normal/high you definitely need someone to guide you/teach you some concepts. It was what happened to me, someone told me im awful and he spent time explaining some concepts to me. It was a enlightening experience, next thing I know I have improved leaps and bounds as I already have the basics down(mechanics etc) but I just do not know what I was doing. Have you spent time watching VODs? Purge has some good guides for learning about dota, and i definitely suggest watching pro games. I started off watching Joindota right after TI2, didn't quite understand the game, but slowly but surely i picked up on what am i supposed to do etc. Then i moved on to beyondthesummit videos which definitely are much more advanced than joindota's commentary. BTW dont feel bad about being awful, hell everyone of us are awful. None of us are professional dota players thus we are all baddies. I suck at DOTA2 too, can't play Shadow Fiend/Meepo/Invoker etc, and a pro player will definitely rape me ingame as do most of us. | ||
