It almost defeats the purpose for me. It feels comical (and not in a good way). Small complaint. I love dota. ![]() No I love it and I feel it creates a very exciting atmosphere for team fights. Hearing 'triple ki, ultra ki, R-R-RAMPAGE' with the announcement for triple and ultra kill cut short is one of the sickest* feelings ever I get whilst playing, regardless of whose kill streak it is. I use default announcer even though I have a couple of others in inventory. *feeling could be described as 'wicked sick'

Just replaced the word with killed, pwned is like a term used from the glorious halo 2 8 year old kid days.

MLG having a steady series of NA tournaments means a Lower tier American scene will form. provided the tournaments are run well. its not about breeding the servers, in which case NA isn't really even far behind europe they are roughly equal in pub skill. its about breeding the semi pro teams. Europe has multiple times more players than NA. If there are 10 times more high skilled players, then it's not equal. Are the players at the top of a similar skill? Sure, this isn't SC with Korea, but that's not entirely relevant. SEA pub skill is higher but their teams are struggling, and they've always had amateur tournaments to compete in. Anyway, not really important. I think NA has 2-3 decent teams in it left just from strong in-house players and ex-pros, let alone new players. So we'll have to see what comes out of MLG's events. Ultimately you still need to have 4-5 people who really want to make it happen. Because if we look at Fire or PB, they didn't have local tournaments, but they made it happen. That's the worrying part, we really haven't had new NA teams pop up to play in international tournaments. (which are any good at least)

In fact, since day9, husky, HDstarcraft were all in NA, the scene supposed to grow much more. But most of the mid tier tournaments in NA never live up while EU pros could fund their living via online competitions. I expect similar phenomenal with DotA2 and have no regret if im wrong. i agree with this assessment unless some of our HoNtrash conversions becomes.....ProHoN? I dunno. lets just hope fnatic isn't the only team to convert successfully.

In the first 2 years we did put up a good fight. Jinro did won an MLG, so did HuK and Naniwa and we have several players made it into GSL etc... Only later on when the Korean training house kicked in, we started losing.

I want to know if it's worth buying the tickets to the CDEC Season 2-4 league and the Rapture Gaming Network League, but I can't find any information on either tournament. Liquipedia doesn't even have them listed as existing. There's no info on any of the games, and I can't find any streaming channel that's covering them (or rather, that's covering them and has vods available). The RaptureGaming twitch channel doesn't have a single vod of its own tournament. I just want to know if there's great games to watch and/or interesting team compositions being employed, etc. If the tournaments aren't getting any coverage they won't sell any tickets and won't be able to succeed. Am I missing something here? RGN has a liquipedia page. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/Rapture_Gaming_Network_League_2013/2014 RGN is a weird tournament either way, it's like 10 months long with not an especially impressive prize pool and just SEA teams. So no, dota tournament coverage isn't poor. Those 2 examples are, but you can still find any info you might need from other sites. http://www.joindota.com/en/coverages/4651-rgn-league-20132014#1691_prizes . As for vods who knows, they have a ticket so presumably they expect people to watch that, it's not like there's any sort of production behind the tournament. I'm sure if you look at random SEA tournaments in any game, it's pretty much the same.
