This must be in the world of the "NEVER GANK THE AM". I miss this world. Its like playing Diablo, except when at the end of the game you right click other heroes until they explode, instead of the devil.

I had a 0-10 PA that never got off the ground. That was the I learned to hate SB and team mates who keep saying, "Stop getting ganked by SB..."

Fundamentally AM and PL are heroes that require your teammates to do a lot for you in order for you to win. They're not strong in lane, require their 2nd/3rd major item to really come into maximum effectiveness, and are not good at playing from behind.
People remember their AM/PL wins in pub games but I would argue that for the most part, pub games won on AM and PL were not won by AM or PL, but by the other 9 players in the game (and yes, that could include the enemy being inept).

No, no, a PL solo hard lane managed to kill drow 3 times in a row my last game. On the other side we, as slark + timber mate managed to take their tower at lvl 5 vs naix and veno + wood lycan, go figure. Playing pub games is not real. (PS : very high obviously)

I often tell my team "Look guys, we have PL. All we need to do is give him enough room to farm a heart and another damage item and he will rip out the other teams soul. He will become the beautiful death-flower we wanted him to be. They have Blood Seeker and he is a chump. We just need to no die for about 25 minutes and we will win this with style.
PL, stay the fuck away and play Diablo until you have a Heart. Don't help us, we are dead to you."
Normally, we win after that as long as no one becomes super dumb.

The nature of pubs is that: - Losing lanes snowballs harder because by nature pub supports are less coordinated in playing damage control for a losing lane (e.g. ganking a mid laner who's ahead, denying the enemy mid runes, etc.) - Overall disadvantages snowball harder because it takes more coordination and teamplay to play damage control and come back than it does to maintain an advantage. The losing team is the one that has to do things like coordinate smoke ganks, bait counterganks, etc. to put themselves back in the game, and these are fundamentally difficult to do properly in a pub game with 4 other random players that you've never played with before.
It's not so much "don't die for 25 minutes" because once the game moves into the "5v4 because you have PL" stage, you can't just give things up slowly because if they suddenly take all your outer towers 5v4, your PL suddenly has nowhere to go to actually continue farming.

(PS : very high obviously) I wouldn't worry about it - PL is one of the strongest offlaners in the game. Kupo will agree with me here.
Also, i'm still trying to make up for my storm after this start: http://dotabuff.com/players/26938848/matches?game_mode=&hero=storm-spirit&match_type=real&page=3

I don't feel this is limited to AM and PL. It's a big problem in general, especially among my less experienced friends. Agha-refresher zeus is a nuisance, just because this one game long ago someone managed to be part of a stomp, it must be built every game, even if we got stomped in lane.

comeh pls, I finally forgot about that game and you show it again.

that game was so sad.

Regularly when I play a game with a PL on the other team he will randomly get a triple/ultra kill is a teamfight before the 20 min mark. I never know how it happens but this has happened too many times for me to buy that PL is a hero that does poorly in pubs from forcing his team to play 4v5.

The only way to lose with AM/PL in pubs is to get trilaned against by people that actually picked their 3 heroes just to do it.

For example if you random, repick and random again, it's possible to get the same hero twice. Oh right, they did add this back a few months ago didn't they? Forgot about that. You got it backwards. Repicking used to put a hero back into the pool. It doesn't anymore: Show nested quote +Feb 7 2013 Patch - Fixed being able to pick or random an already repicked hero. No, you. From a more recent patch:
Repicking a randomed hero now re-adds the hero to the pool http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1338119
