Also, i want -EM in dota2 so badly. Would really help match-making i feel, sure Qss would be longer for the individual Qs but i feel it'd help MM a lot. Blah, I always hated -em. Double passive gold gained, no gold lost on death. in -em it was actually viable to go 4+ carries. Then don't play it, it'd give people who want to play a more casual type of dota that option. Which to me would improve regular MM. And thus, the argument of Ranked vs Unranked Ladder has come up again. HERE WE GO FOLKS How? How is EM the same as ranked vs unranked? I fail to see how you came to that conclusion. From what I understand, you want there to be a queue for EM - this would separate out queues / players from EM and the other modes, and artificially create separate ladders in a sense. How is EM being a seperate queue any different from RD, SD, AR all being seperate queues? You tick the modes you want. Stop being a child. Because its a completely different style of play, and game as a whole. RD, SD, AR all follow the same basic rules after you are done picking your hero. EM doesn't - the game functions completely differently. If EM is implemented, it will probably be done in private lobbies.
Not sure how i'm being a child.

And people are currently seperated because of this? Because i certainly haven't noticed that at all. Or what about people who play nothing but co-op VS AI? vs PVP? I also haven't noticed that causing any seperation between players. If you could tick that you wanted to play EM it would not seperate people at all the way a ranked ladder with a visible MMR would. I do not agree with that at all.

EM just won't be ranked, why are we even arguing about this. It's not comparable to CM.

One of the things that plagued dota1 were a large community of people that only played EM, and never played Normal Dota. Creating a community where this is divided doesn't seem something healthy to me, and if EM were incorporated into MM, most people wouldn't queue EM and normal MM - they would queue one or the other. I think there is a belief that IF doesn't really like the existence of EM, though that's just pure rumors with not much behind it.
If there was some sort of separate searching method that was created when custom maps are incorporated, then that would seem to be the best place to have EM (well, other than custom lobbies).

I think if they add EM it will be different from how it was in DotA.
I mean it's not impossible to rebalance exp/gold without making it a total carry fest.

At the risk of stoking the flames - what's the problem? If we could have EM to suck the worst bottom feeders (lol) out of regular MM, so much the better. Considering how popular EM used to be I'm sure it'll be played in dota 2, and it is in Valve's interest to make features people like to maintain interest around the game.
The segregation argument is completely bullshit because the playerbase is already segregated by skill. A game as complex as dota makes it impossible for beginners to play against experienced players and have fun. The experienced players won't have fun either since they being experienced have tried to stomp before.
Not everyone is here to play the same tryhard pro competitive nolifer (etc) dota that myself and most of this forum seems to prescribe to. EM has a place and dota isn't the same without it. To be completely blunt all I hear is "stop liking what I don't like."

I guess I just dont see why it should be included in MM in the same vain as AP RD and SD if MMR is concerned, and it should be more implemented how all mid is, or maybe just how bot queues work.
I think it has a greater place where custom games fit, where the game isn't exactly dota, but more just a fun way to play the game (if you find EM fun) - so however that is going to work out, that's probably how it should be found / played.

EM would have to have a separate MM system.
For instance, Someone who Q's 200 games only EM will NOT have the same skill in a AR, SD, AP, CM game as someone who Q'd 200 games of a standard mode. So they will need to create a separate ranking system for EM games and keep them separated from peoples standard ELO.

Why? If 200 game EM guy jumps into a regular mode, why can't you just kick his ass and get on with it?

I don't see how newbies are being matched up with experienced players?
Smurfs yes, but that's a different issue.
