Yeah the shield should remove things like Batrider lasso, only Slark's Dark Pact is able to do that as well, and only for Slark himself ofcourse. The problem is that the cast range is pretty short, only 500.
Mist Coil's cast range is very good though, 800. A heal of 250 is pretty good, the same as Mekansm, but it won't really do anything if your ally is really being focused. That's where the synergy with shield comes in though - if you have both skills maxed, they'll have 450 extra HP to burst through.
It's pretty interesting that the Frostmourne (Curse of Avernus) passive works on towers (and Roshan). Your allies are going to be hitting with +40 IAS at the max level, which is pretty good... if it weren't for the fact that the other two skills shouls always be maxed first, so you're not going to have that until ~level 15.

essentially abaddon will be used by teams that like him, and ignored by teams that don't. He's strong enough certainly. but its up to team using him, him being in CM before TI3 with enough time to get used to him again ect.

You'll have at least one point in Curse of avernus before level 11 definitely.
That movespeed boost for your entire team is too good to ignore.
And early on where you'll most be chasing a target and not standing still and attacking it attack speed honestly doesn't do too much since you'll be attacking -> running -> attacking -> running.
So getting it after the other two isn't that big of a problem honestly, it's a super good skill even at level 1. Obviously for quick roshans and towers it sucks that you can't get it max early. But yeah.
Not that it matters to me as i'll be playing Carrydon. 
This hero is too baller for just supporting.

I'm pretty sure that Avernus curse doesn't debuff towers. You only get the buff for yourself.

loas used to be mostly used as a counterpick to specific heroes aka bane
hes also quite good with certain tanky carries aka necro

This is what i've experienced. When I checked my allies, they weren't getting the curse buff while attacking the tower, but I was.

I'm sure he'll see situational play, he won't exactly be as bad as Bloodseeker but he was picked enough in DotA 1 that made him middle of the road for those who vaguely followed the scene then.

It's not like his abilities has been re-worked from what I recall. He's still conceptually the same hero as he has been years ago.

If you really care about farming it just get a decent 3-5 stack and it shouldn't matter either way.

yeah but valve doesn't add any newly introduced heroes to CM until they are apparently bug free.
