And this Pudge queues onto their team. I immediately recognize the name because I played him on my smurf like a week earlier. Anyways, thought it was weird that a 23-19 player could queue into a page 8 game. damn maybe the mm system was changed recently

On another note, the amount of noobs on pages 1-3 increased has more to do with a wider search being used and a change in playtime from players who were there consistently before.

Ever consider that the Pudge may have had inflated MMR from several factors in his previous games? Or that the party he is queueing with aren't that high rated themselves? There are several things you seem to overlook and instead spew all this random nonsense that isn't true about the matchmaking system. Number of games isn't that meaningful, there have been plenty of people with below and around 50 games who have played extremely highend games. Even my secondary account that I used which I used to "unrust" myself played a game against TC. There really isn't a limited player pool unless you are prioritizing certain gamemodes/regions during weird times. Also stop thinking that the matchmaking system does balanced or even matchups. On another note, the amount of noobs on pages 1-3 increased has more to do with a wider search being used and a change in playtime from players who were there consistently before. I've never seen low-count games played accounts face off against higher ones. TC was probably queued up with someone with low count and you almost surely had someone with a higher number of wins in your team. Even w/e represents valve on dota2.dev said in one of the posts #number of wins/games is taken into account when matching up people. ( but only if you count solo queued people!) That's not to say 50 game account won't be playing high tier games, but no way you're gonna get to first 10 pages if all the people are solo queuing.

I would really appreciate it especially since I see that they watched the alienware cup and would love to hear their thoughts on it http://www.thisisgame.com/board/view.php?id=1576126&category=13439 It's pretty long to do a basic translation. I can probably do a full one if enough people are interested.

Unlike in Dota 2, you can buy items that increase the damage output of your abilities in LoL. Etheral blade??? Veil??? Aghanim??? Any hero that has an ability that scales with stats??? I mean skywrath mage literally scales with his intelligence which you get from buying items. I know we don't have an equivalent of AP but that doesn't make that statement any less wrong. That article seemed more like it was written from the perspective of a person who is used to LoL and tried dota once. ![]()

In a strict very sense though, aghanims scepter is really the only one that increases the damage of spells, and even then only for some of the heroes. With very strict i mean: -passive effect, i.e. increases the damage of the spell each time you use it; also works on buildings if they are affected by spells. -does not increase any other stat as a side effect; though it can via another bonus of the item ofc. -does directly increase the damage of all spells in general and not because of some very special nature of the spell, i.e. as for skywrath mage. -increasing vulnerability of enemies =/= increasing your damage. (Ok I don't know lol, so im not sure if this "AP" fulfills all this conditions either.)

It's hard to care after reading crappy journalism about my hobbies years ago. If the author at least plays lol then that articly is at worst biased against Dota. Which is still ok in my book, as Dota is represented as the correct type of game.

Think of it like buying damage on PA would mean for every point of +dmg she would get +x damage on her dagger and for casters think of having items in the game that give e.g. a QoP scream +x dmg for every point of stat that item gives. The former is AD, the latter AP scaling. Apart from that League has "penetration" for both magical resists and armor in the form of flat pen and % pen. These mechanics are a big reason for why power curves in league are so flat compared to DotA, simply because it doesn't matter if your damage is based on autoattacks or spells, either scales well into lategame. In that sense it's completely fine. You can't buy items in DotA that increase the damage of your abilities per se. Aghs upgrades that do that are a special case, Veil doesn't directly increase ability damage, neither does EBlade. e: You might want to link the complete article instead of a random sentence tho. ;;

There is nothing like AP in Dota 2, therefore spells scale terribly when compared to autoattacks... There are a few exceptions but in general thats just the truth.
