Is it really THAT much more popular among people who watch streams? I do feel that watching personal streams is a habit more prevalent in LoL, while people watch Dota tournaments more often than player streams. Maybe because there are so many random online tournaments avaible to watch all the time. Yea I mean I play while watching streams but I find that LoL streams generally are a pretty big deal among the community while the Dota community couldn't really care less unless it's a tournament, which sucks for me because I couldnt care less about tournaments unless they are the finals/big tournament. I think mainly because dota pro stream usually stack 3+, and the players are usually circle-jerk or do some stupid stuffs. It's nice for a while, but in the long run, I get bored with all the stupid talks. I mean, in LoL, you can only do solo/duo queue, so most of pros usually do solo queue, and they have time to interact with the viewers and stuffs; while Dota pros only brotalk with each other, leaving the viewers by themselves. Even MarineKing or Polt who only say gg after each game have more viewer interaction than some dota pro. how many dota stream have you actualy watched ? If you can name the number of the dota pro stream out there, I'll tell you the number of the stream I've watched and followed.

A fair number of people do watch LoL streams for entertainment factor as well as for learning. When LoL was just starting up, it had a very stream-centric approach which has continued to carry over even through all of its development. Pretty much this. When LoL came out of the beta, it was pretty much the same time Twitch and Own3d started to get popular. League's early growth in the west definitely stems from its streaming community. Fans enjoy watching the pros and it gives the pros an opportunity to interact with their fans outside of social media.
l0l teapoted. Can I borrow your top hat and monocle, good sir?

I watch player streams (when there are no tournaments), I still think they're cheap entertainment and if people are sitting down to watch some Dota they will watch a real game that actually has some substance rather than someone playing pubs.

I take it about as seriously as I take anything else I watch. Being a video game doesn't somehow make it less important than a sport or a 200 million dollar movie, they're all still taking the same time.

The only DotA player streams I can stomach are semi-pro ones, like that 3rd tier not-quite-ever on a team streams, because during "real" games whether solo or stack they have something to prove. Eventually the character and the viewers take over and the streamer turns into their mask (usually a clown) and most of them aren't that funny.
I did love watching EE back when he started, though, he played Constellations/GC theme soooooo many times it was glorious.

ee's stream is so good if you can stand the music, hilarious amounts of entertainment
list of good dota streamers imo, in no particular order
1. bulldog 2. draskyl 3. EE 4. blitz 5. bdiz/korok 6. barney 7. iceiceice (when he streamed) 8. fluff 9. ixmike88 (music and ixmiejke tyeping) 10. sing

listening to ixmikes stream music is like being in the car while my dad drives.

Yeah ixmike's stream just sounds like every classic rock station ever. I think Dendi plays the best music, some nice variety. (although I haven't watched his stream since last year, don't know if it's still the same)
