did they change the gpm formula? just had a game where our medusa that freefarmed all game with a midas only got like 330 and the rest of the teams even comparatively lower.

edit: nvm, score screen was bugged ofc. although usually when that happens it's just all zeroes for everyones.

I think that production was incredibly weak regardless of the location. The overlays were bad, the set looked bad, they had a small audience but still never showed it. They can say 'it might not look good because it's a small audience', but it's better than making it look like an online tournament. Then when they went to the final they still almost never showed the players. Not during the draft, not during the start of the game.

This. The GD Studio managed to persuade everyone that the location was the only problem and they did everything right. I thought it was an incredibly lazy production from the GD studio. They didn't add anything extra on top of what they have at the GD house. What we got was basically identical to the TI3 West qualifiers. Apart from the bad sound, bad overlays, and live interviews, instead of skype interviews. That doesn't cut it all for a LAN tournament, in my opinion.

When I asked Trance about why there no crowd and player shots, he said that because the crowd is too small and the players are too far. So I replied with a tongue in cheek reply "I wish we will one day have a technology that could broadcast video on long distance", to which he replied "cameras and glassfiber cables don't grow on trees" I don't know wtf to think about that... If they couldn't afford that, the production budget must've been pretty minimal, especially considering the prizemoney itself.

This is how the guild thing looks now. Very simplistic, but it allows you to queue with other guild members if you wish (they can just join a guild-global queue where you're added to anyone else in that queue) and set officers which can presumably add other members too, which you do through friend list. (Potentially chat lobbies too?)

I could make the TL guild officially on the live servers when the patch comes out, if nobody has any issue with that.

Will be cool for in-house stacking against pubs and such.

I assume the official TL guild will be initially staff controlled or something when it comes out, as it'll be a representation of the site as a community

A stage isn't a production, it's an asset.

The stage was bad, and the production was bad.

(This is on the Test realm which is why I made it without permission, just to fuck around a bit, no harm intended).

However, it does mention that you can not reuse a guild's name even if it's deleted (= disbanded), so I would put some staff on it to make sure someone you actually trust gets the name and not a random troll, as presumably, that name would be permanently taken by them unless Valve drops the hammer.

I'd personally transfer guild rights over without much complaint, but obviously, maybe Valve implements something later against sniping.

The production was the best it could be given the broom closet they were in. if there were on stage then crowd shots and player shots becomes easy to do instead of costing thousands.

So currently the only use for the guild system is to find other people to stack for pubs, right? I'm sure Valve will add a lot of more cool features to the guild, this could really make the pubbing experience MUCH better! For example playing inhouses within the league is a no brainer, and will hopefully added soon.

I'm sorry but this is nonsense. I've been watching eSport's events from shitty booths at electronics conferences where the conditions are much worse for a long time.

It's just not true that they can't do better with that venue.

~

This is why I brought this up in the first place, because there's people like you who seem to believe that all this is hamstrung by that small area as if everything else was done well.

Pretty much everything was bad aside from the casting to be quite honest. I would never have paid money to go to that. From the very few shots they showed of the stands (if you can even call them that), the terrible screen to view, cramped ass area, etc. It looks like something thrown together in 5 seconds.

GD studio just getting complacent lately.

Too bad the MMR isnt visible, then we could have some MMO clan war things. I could imagine a lot of things that could implemented into guild: cosmetic sharing bank, guild war, guild IH matchmaking(ixdl?),... Once the guild get famous, you gona get your own cosmetic items for top guilds that make you spot out in pub game. There could also be a coaching system with 6 men team(1 coach 5 players) but they gona need to fix Fog of war first.

Looking ahead 3 years shit.
