So I should buy Papa John's to show them that investing in esports is worth it, is basically what the point of it is? But I why should I care about discounted Pizza as an esports fan? As an esports fan, I care about esports. It just feels so artificial and detached from what I would appreciate Pappa John's doing to esports. I don't give a fuck if they make this an annual even. Why should I, it's of zero interest to me.
To be honest, I 100% expect the "pizzagg" promo code to spread all over the internet to people who give zero fucks about seports and just want to save a couple bucks on their pizza.

well can't convince people if they are just cynical about everything on the planet i guess.
oh well. The point is it'll help convince the delivery food industry to advertise more in esports if one of the members starts to do it, and the delivery food industry spends billions of dollars annually on advertisement. putting that ad money into dota/sc2/lol/smite whatever is in no way bad. and the fact that you refuse to accept how business practices work, means discussing it with you is pointless.

I guess I just don't like the notion that with this "event" popular personalities are being rewarded simply for being popular (and for whoring their codes as hard as possible), instead of actually creating something worthwhile... It just seems completely worthless, and I fear that these kinds of things might get more popular.

Yeah, I understand that. I think as long as it injects money in the industry, it's nice and a good thing. Your problem is with the execution if I understand properly, which I understand better. I wrote a lot of "understand" :o

Steelseries when it entered the market just put their logo on players. eventually it gave them free product, and finally started working with them. Sorry this is the way the world works. you take steps when spending thousands of dollars you don't start off with tens or hundreds of thousands.
Look at monster for the perfect example, they started by just giving out free monster at MLGs and stuff, then they started sponsoring teams, and now they sponsor a massive portion of teams and events. they didn't START by sponsoring teams. they started with small promotions. like this.
