That 2.4M one...looks very...VERY promising. (8 player 1 vs 1 competition at TI3) Don't like that it's vote based, because I guarantee that many of the mids that would actually be most promising to win it probably wouldn't get voted in. cty? CTY would probably get the vote. At least among the Chinese teams, there are two things that stand out to me: 1) For the 3 big-name Chinese teams (IG/DK/LGD), when it comes to pure 1v1 mid, the carry players on those teams are no weaker than the mid players. Sylar used to be a mid player, and at the time of 2009's 1v1 tournament, it was said that he was actually the strongest of the 5 LGD players when it came to just 1v1 laning. Zhou and Burning likewise have been noted for their strong ability in tournament 1v1 (even prior to TI2, Zhou was playing 1v1 tournaments on the Chinese DotA 1 ladder). The mid laners on these teams excel in their roles due to their ability to direct the game-flow on tempo carrying heroes, but for a pure 1v1 tournament, they're not necessarily going to be better choices than their respective carry players (but they mid players will get the votes). 2) People always cite that CTY won 2009's 1v1 tournament. They forget that at the time, all the invited pros were playing full-time DotA 2 with no time to practice for a DotA 1 1v1 tournament (Burning actually declined his invite because he felt it would be disrespectful to participate with no time to properly practice)--while CTY was not on a team yet, so he could essentially practice as much as he wanted for that tournament. People also don't notice that Mu actually placed second in that tournament-- while still playing full time DotA 2. That's arguably just as impressive as CTY winning with all the practice time in the world. Yet seeing as people are disregarding Tongfu among the Chinese teams (and he's the least well known of the Chinese mids), he's not likely to get voted into such a tournament, despite possibly being one of the most deserving mid players for it. It's just an 8 player showmatch. I'm sure you would like an extremelly asian-heavy roster, but honestly it's good if it's a more even split. In the end we would still probally get the mid players of all the top asian teams, which already take up around half the slots. So, unless you believe there is a carry player that should be picked intead of their mid player for a certain team, I don't think that's such a big deal. It would be a cool tournament even if we get something like a Puppey or Black in there, just to see what happens. It's not a serious tournament anyway. Black actually won a solo mid tournament in EU back when he was in NextKz, there werent that many participating though. (Before Black played hardcarry he played midlane aswell) Yeah, he said in his Q&A how he likes to play mid, used to do it and would do it again if he wasn't playing carry, which is why he would be an interesting player to see, even if he would probally not be chosen if it was supposed to be a serious tournament.

Who cares about 1v1 I wanna see all-star pudge wars

I'd like to see N0tail in that 8 player 1v1 but I doubt he'd get the vote

Does anyone else not like the reward idea of getting an immortal item for one of the compendium goals. I mean, think about it. You're getting an immortal item, but to get there there's gotta be a TON of buyers which sort of defeats the purpose of an "immortal" item. I guess technically it is immortal, but it's something that everyone would have.
Every other idea is cool though.

well i mean the compendium owners is already a small part of the overall player population and as the game hopefully grows you will soon be a proud owner of a 2013 compendium immortal

You can say "I bought the compendium, and the game was only in beta at the time" to the ones who started playing it when it is released

given that it's still $1.2M away, still need 480,000 compendiums to be sold. that's a lot.

I hope valve creates yet another item that also adds towards the prizepool, like maybe taking 0.5€ from each TI3 key and putting it towards the prizepool. I don't want to buy more compendiums (Although i might just to give them away to friends) but i'd love to support the prizepool more.

Valve, stop sending me keys. I got 7 this morning, but I still haven't got rid of the 18 others you gave me.

I finally got into the "high" bracket! Been playing for about a year, solo queuing and randoming every game, I'm pretty proud of myself

Going back a bit to the Mirana buff issue, I'd actually like a complete remake of her arrow skill to make her truly gank-oriented and skill-based (unlike what happens now where she's a carry/gank hybrid but her last-hitting is weak without skills, her skills consume her mana too quickly which discourages continuous ganks/forces you to lane after a gank). I'd propose removing the damage from the arrow completely, but make it a debuff like Amplify Damage. Someone previously suggested an increase in damage based on stun time. I'd be open to that, but make it something like 5s stun arrow = +50% damage taken by the unit hit with the arrow (with an increment of 10% per level, starting off at 20%). That way, you basically make her roam the lanes or go offensive trilane. And in this way, she's very useful from level 1 as a ganker, and then transition as a semi-carry later on when the arrows don't come as easily (and I really like the idea of a good stun that does 0 damage but becomes more exceptional the more teammates you have around).
