I mean, there has to be a better term you could come up with. It's more of an attack on their personality - those kind of people who just play to win - not play to enjoy themselves (although winning is fun, this is beyond that). Consider a board game with 10 pieces and each piece has a special ability. People love the game and it's a lot of fun, but there's one piece which is frustratingly stronger than others, and requires 5 of the pieces to strategise around this one piece. Now, one kid comes along and just wants to win - every game. So he picks that piece - every game. This kid has no friends, and receives abuse on a regular basis. He never develops any skill, but he wins a lot of games. Is he allowed to pick this piece? Sure. Does any body like him? No.

They're trying too hard to win and not having any fun at all! Damn them! Jesus christ this is some of the most illogical shit i've read in a while. NEWFLASH: THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO PICK HEROES BECAUSE THEY ENJOY THEM WITHOUT GIVING A FUCK ABOUT YOUR INVISIBLE STANDARDS.

Why does Eddy Curry come to camp every year overweight? The (short) answer is that it's really risky to work hard, because then if you fail you can no longer say that you failed because you didn't work hard. It's a form of self-protection. Most of the psychological research on this is focused on why some kids don't study for tests -- which is a much more serious version of the same problem. If you get drunk the night before an exam instead of studying and you fail, then the problem is that you got drunk. If you do study and you fail, the problem is that you're stupid -- and stupid, for a student, is a death sentence. The point is that it is far more psychologically dangerous and difficult to prepare for a task than not to prepare

What's not to understand? The game at the pro level and the pub level are completely different games. Playing ALL PICK like it's CAPTAINS MODE breaks the game. Playing to win is good. Playing to win at all costs by picking compositions that are stupidly OP out of CM is tryhard. When you queue for ALL PICK, you're signing an implicit social contract that 'all' heroes can be picked. Picking the strong ones all the time is breaking this contract, and is a dick thing to do. Now if you're in Very High, then have at it, I'd expect it in that bracket. For everyone else, 'tryhard' is a valid criticism.
