To be fair there are instances of that occurring such as alchs stun, only one I can think of off the top of my head. Where damage occurs through magic immunity but the stun does not. Slardar's Slithereen crush (will damage ancients even) That's a bug. Slithereen Crush is not supposed to damage Ancients, regardless of whether or not they are magic immune. It's part of the long list of incorrect Ancient/Resistant Skin/etc. interactions that will be fixed eventually but aren't that high priority because they're rarely game-breaking. I kind of thought this was true - I remember when I was making fun of a slardar on my team for doing this and he was like "LOL NUB IT DAMAGES ANCIENTS LOL". I thought it might have been a bug.
(it IS supposed to do damage through magic immunity regardless, right?)

Yes because it does physical damage.

Will there be a patch today?

Well Valve never say if there won't be one.

Hopefully, I'm running out of items to buy!

They already announced nonpatch weeks several times before

Not the past 2 weeks. When you mention it sure they've said there won't be patches like before TI2.

Funny because both CSGO and TF2 had patches before they went to Hawaii but not Doto...

Wasn't Bristleback right before Hawaii? 2 week vacation, that patch was 3 weeks ago.

I mean, CSGO and TF2 had patches on the 3rd. Dota didn't. The week they went to Hawaii.

Maybe the CS:GO and TF2 devs are the rejects and they didn't get to go.
Gotta suck to be a CS:GO dev, can't make that community happy.

I don't like bashing like this, but Tobi saying on stream that movement speed from multiple boots stacks, I can't resist that... Just.... come on, man.... get it together for. The only thing I can think of is that he meant that the highest movement speed takes precedent. Even I think he might be too knowledgeable for this. This is one of the most basic things you ever learn. Also self plug: http://dotabuff.com/matches/174179238 Na, he was talking for a couple of minutes during a pause that it stacks like attack speed. He obviously read chat 2 minutes later and admitted he was wrong, but still, not like a "the damage goes through bkb but the stun doesn't" situation. Yeah, I'm usually someone that defends tobi, but this isn't like MKB ministuns even. This is like not knowing attacking a hero draws creep aggro or something. Maybe he hasn't slept in a month or is drunk or something.
Maybe he's just exhausted, he might get alot of flak for his casting and everything, but he by far does the most cast of any commentator out there, I mean like half of the dota games have his voices, i think this might be also a factor of annoying since we alwais hear him.
On that note finnaly managed to figure out that ld dota youtube was out and that everything move to beyondthesummit youtube, god i am finnally at peace.
+1 vods -1 stream

I don't know everything but the specific Tobi case you are talking about, but I have to say this.
Human casters is the best casters.
Even if the main caster for SSF 4 AE in the Swedish E-Sports Championships doesn't have perfect knowledge of the game, he still produces really enjoyable casts. Same principal applies to just about any other caster that I like. I like them because they are human, not machines who are overly cautious in getting everything right

honestly it's probably just a product of talking/casting so much. Tobi is one of the more knowledgable in the scene just through his experience, but he makes mistakes probably due to how overworked he is.
Almost every time I look at the stream list, Tobi is there. His ethic is pretty impressive.
He's not my favorite caster, but I don't think he's bad by any means. I definitely think a lot of the criticism he gets is overblown. I actually like his solo casts, recently he's toned down his overexcitement and for the majority of the game he articulates what's going on pretty well, and his analysis has been getting better during the non-critical points of the game.
Pretty egregious error, but usually his mistakes are explainable (and honestly he doesn't make them that often these days)

..Wait, has TL shifted from thinking Tobi is literally hitler?
I've always been one to defend him, and I watch him religiously even if he does make mistakes like this. I think he has improved as a caster pretty dramatically over the past year and a half.

Everyone makes mistakes, I think the reason both me an Cecek independently thought it was worthy of pointing out is just how basic of a mistake it was and if you listened to it, not a product of being rushed, or drained, or in the heat of battle. Just a genuine misunderstanding followed by some justification for why it works that way (which it obviously doesn't).
I'd be equally surprised if one of my friends who has played Dota very casually for as long would make the same mistake.
People say I give Tobi a lot of shit but really I give him shit for his actions outside of casting, he's still the best 'big match' commentator in Dota.

I dislike him and think he's an idiot but I do have to give him some credit since he has done a lot for the growth of dota. Don't see how disliking someone means you think they are hitler though. The part I dislike the most is the fact that often he makes statements when people that know less take those statements as taken from some kind of authority on the matter so build a very skewed view on how the game actually works.
Whether he is actually a lot smarter than he sounds it's possible since doing real time analysis while casting is very hard. I'd just wish commentators in general would stick away from making these blanket statements if they in that position and rather let their co-commentator that is meant to be able to make them do it. There's no point having a professional like Synderen on the cast if you try do what he does without the fundamental knowledge he has and time to do the analysis.
I guess I've deviated from Tobi to just Casting in general. In the East it seems they always have a casting desk so this problem doesn't happen since the airtime isn't equally distributed thus one/two people are able to do that deal time analysis properly. You shouldn't be expected to do play by play while actually doing proper analysis. Why try in the first place, build a system that allows it to happen without the massive errors.

I don't think anyone is saying he's bad. In matter of fact, like you well said, he works the most in our scene but mistakes like that shouldn't be an "excuse" only because you are exhausted. I'm actually pretty glad we have Tobi in our scene. If he excels in something, is bringing hype and excitement. Especially for newcomers. If he casted like + Show Spoiler + this every single time I doubt anyone would say anything..

he may be experienced, but definitely not one of the more knowledgeable. there are huge gaps in his knowledge in regards to actual gameplay. he may understand teams' styles and drafts to an extent, but ive almost never seen him say something correct in terms of how a game will and should actually play out. and i just hate how he always has those puns or "smart" one liners. the things news casters do at the end of their show.
anyways since no one answered my question previously. anyone know whether sea server is still screwed up? i get 300ping vs the old 100 and now i cant play anywhere
