Because they would try really hard back then in games that didn't really matter and now they play in games that do matter so they don't try in games that don't. Most of the time mid isn't about 1v1 so if enemy team is making an effort to shut down mid then well Dendi is going to lose mid 9/10 times. That's just the game.

Man Lumi got a lot of things wrong in this. 1/1/4 Gyro being rare, glove of haste Na'ix meaning he's going maelstrom, Steins;gate being the best anime of 2012...

Because good players don't judge by single games, but by overall skill. Lowbies like to flame for single mistakes but in reality everyone makes mistakes (surprise, we are human), it's the overall performance that counts. So many people tend to think they are better than pros just because they had 1 game in their life when they played better than a pro in his worst game in life.

He'll be a top player after he gets the rust off.. he's been playing sc2 for like 2 years at the top levels so it's reasonable that his Dota 2 skills aren't back yet.

Most pros were good in pubs at some point. But when someone's been playing on a stable professional team for as along as Dendi has, there isn't a whole lot of motivation to stay good at pub DotA. It's really not the same game as competitive DotA, even though there is some overlap in skillset. Some players can play both well (Zhou and YYF both have very impressive stats on Chinese DotA 1 ladder). Others don't have the will or the desire to stay good at both (Burning didn't look all that good at pubs when he played on PWG, and he talked about how he and 357 played two-man DotA 1 stacks a day before WCG and failed to win a single game).

He has been playing what, like 3-4 different games at a high level? He's clearly good at games, so give it time and you'll see that he won't turn out completely trash if he is aiming to play at a more serious level in the future. Player bashing is boring.
