Watching Sing stream with old teammates is always hilarious. Glad it was recorded because I was asleep, will re-watch later. I still remember watching Sing + Era.

Here is why SF does not beat batrider in a real game: any hero roams and you're done. Also even if you get to level 5 at a reasonable time to be able to threaten the triple raze, a lane ward will allow the bat to position as you go to nuke down the wave and run you down with cooldowns up. Sure if you have a support sitting behind you, and are level 3, bat will die when going in.

This match-up is gonna let bat pick up the easist 8 minute blink dagger againt a wave nuking SF. This isn't actually good for your team even if you get some nice farm after level 5.

SF indeed destroys bat if he somehow wins the first 2 levels. Just cannot walk into the triple raze. But bat should make his blink dagger so fast that there is no reward for running SF against, ontop of aforementioned SF gets shit on by roamers, especially with a high damage hero like bat.

Why do you mention blink? And hero roams?

I believe the crux of the discussion was tied to pure 1vs1 match.

Whilst I agree that in a "real game" a SF won't beat a bat almost ever(up until yaphets-lvl SF play), I still think that at the highest possible level of play SF beats bat. Strictly because of range advantage, SF has higher attack range and his long raze if used correctly is basically free damage.

You should also check some VODs that have been posted by various people 20-30 pages ago, really interesting stuff. The main thing is that you must not under any condition let bat have full hp, he must always be injured so that if/when he dives you he has to make a tough decision and it gets risky for him.

We shouldn't include runes/hero roams/etc in the discussion because that makes it just too variable. SF is one of the easiest heroes to gank but I think that in any serious game you'll have some support babysitting you occasionally.

EDIT: also SF won't just nuke waves, that would be silly as it would give too much space to the enemy, you still want to control the lane as much as possible so you're safe to ganks and keep the bat honest, as in keep long range razing him
You must gather your party before venturing forth.

If an SF gets a much better block, it is possible. However, if it ever gets on Bat's hill, sf will get flamebreaked the first time he goes up to far and will die at lvl 2.
I liked Dota before it was Mainstream.

Kinda core, you sometimes need BKB first and than you might just want to get hyperstone. But MoM works really well with Bara

In a 1v1 which isnt really dota, its not even close. SF just defends and wins. In a real game bat should win the first few waves easily, escape from roam attempts quite easily and be more than happy to bank his early advantage into farm trading, as the SF will be forced to nuke down waves. Bat just cannot go on a level 5 SF even if he's level 6 and full HP. SF casts the max range nuke on bat all the time to begin the triple raze combo and defend himself (as you said about keeping his hp low.) The problem is bat wins the early waves easily and then just collects the last hits under the tower at little cost. Bat is gonna run amok and SF is gonna be a creep killing turd.

Losing the first waves to SF on any hero is a recipie for disaster, and bat who gets such high damage on his own last hits can easily control the creeps to get all his and deny the SF. he doesn't need to see the situation where he chooses between deny and last hit because he can take his own on such a huge range over SF.

How is he gonna keep the bat from getting in without razes, or even begin to collect souls. Without a triple raze bat just skates all over him into free kill.

Nah it's not "core". His only real core is bkb I think then from there you get whatever. Armlet/AC/MoM etc. all good. I'd say armlet/bkb prob best but I'm mad bad at SB. MoM is basically never a core item, it's just sometimes situationally good

I'd argue that drum could be considered core on SB.
From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

I kinda stop building drums on most heroes rofl. Cost too much gold when that 2k could have been spent on a key item.

Unless im being stomped and need small items of course.

Highly depens really, drum is a good mid game item for its cost. I really like going it on heroes like luna, who is really squishy and needs some sort of hp increase to survive

I usually get drums if I could use a bracer and there are no drums already on the team. And on the heroes you get drums normally regardless

I think drums is a nice item for many carry and mid heroes. But a whole lot of the time I just see mouth breathers with drum on jakiro / sd / mag / necrolyte and many, many other heroes when they could of grabbed a mek and probably turned a tough game into a stomp.

Almost every support who makes a drum when their is no mek on the team is in the wrong (and this happens all the time.) I have a pretty damn tough time thinking of when it wouldnt be better to just make the mek and quickly supplement your mana if you feel mek is somehow taxing you.

Drum isn't limited to one per team, having multiple drums on the team is completely fine.
It is an amazing item for mid-game oriented fighting.

Ofc but there are usually better choices if there already is a drum carrier with charges still there
