Have you tried 'i am rus too' yet?
Seriously games have been really nice since I started to use that line rofl

Won't they just rage at you when you don't seem to respond to any of their russian hieroglyphics though?

Also - should we think of making a small vod thread for dota2? Classical set up and spoiler free?
I might be willing to help out on an idea like that.

Nope, the funny thing is they actually will tolerate you or help you in game acting like we are bros, you can just say 'cant type rus on this pc now' if they keep typing in rus (or just ignore since you cant do anything anyway).
I discovered that when some rus stack happened to me, both of them range wanted to top so i just walked up to them as Omni and say 'nope, 1 range go bot with Cent' and they asked me 'are you rus?' and then i replied 'i am rus too' and then one of them go bot lol. Game won even though they made some stupid mistakes but they actually listened (?!).

This is... interesting. Are you a Jedi or something? "These aren't the droids you're looking for. I am rus too"

I said 'I cant type rus on this pc', doesnt imply that i am replying them on something. Just dont say much (like an usual pub) and only use simple communication like 'X miss mid care' 'pubtrain pls' etc, I just ignore whatever Cyrillic they typed lol. I found that most russian speakers know english (even at a very basic level) anyway.

I dunno, I speak maybe 30 words in spanish and somehow understand enough Portuguese that BR players rarely confuse me except during longwinded rants. The slang spanish is what throws me really hard. But anyways between them knowing about as much english as I do of their language I still have had some ok games that way. There's not really that much you have to know in the language to be able to dota in it. Hell, the last game I played they were convinced I was BR because I last picked lycan and didn't talk until one person on my team started complaining about being on an all br team (turns out it was actually just 2 BRs who both spoke perfect english).

The problem I have is that I am russian myself an can perfectly read what they are typing. But since I grew up in germany and never had a russian keyboard in my hand I can only respond with some english or l33t russian with latin lettters. And that makes most of them even rage more....

I remember playing in a Polish room on garena as 4 stack and the 5th guy was turkish. We didn't really care and he spoke good english and played well. Soon enough the enemy started flaming him in polish coz he stomped them (yeah) and he responded "can't understand plz talk turkiye". Fucking brilliant :D

well if u cant write russian cirilic in game that doesnt mean u cant chat on english because u can easily communicate in russian with english on and standard keyboard, so saying 'im rus too but cant type on that pc' is total bullshit bro.

It is called translit.

Huh, of course it is bullshit or trollish at best. FYI some computers dont have specific language input, maybe a newly setup pc or a russian staying in UK playing game at his english's gf pc??? For older windows version (pre-vista), you cant even show foreign language if you dont have it installed.
Go in game, see them typing Cyrillic,
1.'yo i am rus too' or 'yo i am rus too but i cant type rus now at this pc' 2.ignore whatever they say in cyrillic (they dont really know whether you cant read what they said or just ignoring them) 3.call miss/come smoke/rosh etc just like you play with any other people.
You did not say that you know russian or you understand russian at all because the last thing i know 'rus' can mean anything . At least this way you are not pissing them off by going 'omg fcking rus again'. And strangely all these rus players tend to be nicer if i did that.

I know Cyrillic so I can understand some words based them sounding like their English counterparts. Things like "пуш" which sounds like push
