I agree. Radiance is more of a "oh team is winning without me so let me just chill and get huge to end later" kind of item. Most of the time I can't really see a radiance PL doing anything until he gets another 1/2 items and a lot of the time you won't be able to hold out without being too far behind for you to come back. It can work but it's not the safer option currently.

Diffusal and qb is more well rounded than radiance first in many situations without sacrificing much of pls farm ability.
Radiance first can still be really powerful as long as you get it in a timely manner and make proper use of the farm it can give you. Hopefully if you go radiance first you will have another ultra-expensive item like 4 minutes later so you can go kill shit, otherwise you are pretty weak.

It depends on you are running PL, TBH. For example, when I draft PL and support him on a defensive lane where I'm not getting pressured much, I'll often get radiance first (sometimes midas before radiance if I can get it around 4:30) and just start split pushing while farming the jungle immediately.
If I draft PL + kotl + a stunner and run it on a offensive trilane, i'll usually grab a vit booster, stout / PMS (depends on the number of ranged heroes), and diffusal blade, and just focus on costant pressure / dominating the lane (sometimes drums is good too - up to the player, i prefer a naked vit booster so I can get heart after diffusal).

it depends on the ennemy team, if they try to farm with midas/void/am, get a radiance then heart.

I'm pretty sure if an enemy team sees a midas PL they will just hit a timing knowing it's 4v5 and get a huge lead. I'm imagine you'd have to outdraft a team to pull that off.

Well, I guess I should say "depends on the enemy team comp". If they draft a luna / midgame push carry, I'm not going to do that (probably wouldn't draft PL against a luna anyways).
If they draft AM, I can probably get away with it (though, I would likely have thrown an aggressive lane against AM anyways)

Yea but I just don't see a situation where you can go midas radiance unless you basically won on paper already or they messed up so bad you got a huge early lead.

Yeah, probably true. Most games I won't get it though  I usually just keep my mind open for midas timings if they will be available or not. Just something I keep in the back of my mind.

PL beats luna and going midas is not worth it unless you can play extremly greedy.

radiance on pl is just plain boring. get defusal heart by 20min, start 5 man dota, win game by 30.
defusal is just so much better for fights, according to my calculation it does 204393781x more dps than radiance. oh and did you know it drains mana.

actually radiance and diffusal do similar amounts of damage, but the diffusal damage is more focused and you get purge/manaburn
either way you need another big item (usually heart) before you can actually start carrying
