I've always perceived Dota's community in general to have always been this way. Sure Joindota has its share of faults but before that was what...Gosugamers? Playdota doesn't even have what we could call a community either, just sheer chaos. DotA's community always had a lot of baggage attached to it, some would go so far as to say it painted one of the worst gaming communities of all time (because of the nature of the game where one person can unintentionally feed, causing frustration). Valve's done a good job at combating the image by working awfully hard on a report function and even if I'm deriving some connection here, I felt has generally shined a better image due to the international. People need to take note that Valve hardly markets DotA 2, if at all outside of hosting the International. It's within that tournament that acts as a gathering of some sort for people that are passionate about the game to watch the best players compete. DotA never really had that before in it's history and at best people at Blizzcon would walk past some booths with raised brows of what the game was about. | ||
