Here it's more likely that they just don't feel like concentrating 100% and want to be sort of lazy with the QB because in the pubgames the 225g you spend on it really doesn't matter, so I feel like it's more of a comfortability thing most of the time

Like when fighting Roshan, when an encounter with an enemy hero, etc. Basically pre patch where they reintroduced the music (Was it the January patch)? I like the silence actually (the no music) but I do like event music (from Roshan, at beginning of the game, etc). Turning music volume down turns everything off, I just want to disable the regular music that was added in last patch. Anyone know if there is anyway to do this?

Even Burning misses last hits (rarely ofc) so if I have a freefarm lane with a melee carry I always buy this item. That assumes that there would be no CS that you would have gotten without QB but couldn't get with QB because you got harassed/engaged on by the enemy and were forced to back off from the CS due to your inability to fight back (since you have no Stout or less regen). Even at a fairly mediocre level of play, the amount of CS you'd miss that way should exceed the amount you'd get with QB but miss without. Any remotely competent opposing laner will punish you for starting QB this way.

In my experience Stout/QB only works "well" when you wouldn't need the stout anyway (and therefore also wouldn't need the QB because you got freefarm, else you just lack the regen :p)... The extra denies + the qb ![]() And it's not always the opponent is able to force that much harass unto you anyway. I guess it's just a preference thing!

It all depends on the situation, if you were going to get other items to boost your damage qb probably is a better investment. Also, the whole "you'll get harassed thing" is somewhat irrelevant, since in pubs -225 of stats / regen is nothing, and in competitive you get pooled so starting gold matters a lot less.

Sure, it's easy to say QB helped me hit these 3 last creeps, but think in terms of the opportunity cost. Not having a stout shield negates your supports ability to pull, and whilst you may have a "free farm lane", the opposing off-laner is achieving his goal of gaining xp without dying. As somebody who offlanes a lot, there's a lot of punishment you can give to a "free farmer" lacking a stout shield.

Honestly, otherwise it doesn't make sense at all. So, for arguments sake, I think we should agree on that.

I saw Burning do it, it must be awesome.

As a safelane carry, you should be looking to establish yourself in a position where you can eventually bully the offlaner without help from your support. This in turn free up your supports to pressure other lanes and obtain space for you to farm. Otherwise, your team will be playing 3v5 which makes it difficult to defend towers/pressure other lanes or suppress the enemy farmer etc.

But it's presumptuous to start QB without knowing who you're against, what hero/items they have, or any idea of how good they are. The way I see it: a) Start with QB, potentially get a lasthit or two more but then get harassed the fuck out of lane while trying to buy stoutshield. b) Start with stout, potentially miss a lasthit or two but be fine with a few trades and then buy QB for moar lasthits I see no reason in the world to not go for b). Maybe a competetive level where you're 99% sure that you will be in a 3n1 lane could be an exception.
