Feels good. Even though I harbor no hatred towards LoL, my favourite is still when an ex-LoL player comes and says how he really has enjoyed dota2 after converting. Brewmaster converted me lol https://dotabuff.com/players/110335492/heroes ,loooove playing brew. There isn't anything similar in LoL and all the new champions that are coming out aren't really my thing so here I am.(they also nuked the game with the last patch so didn't feel like relearning everything, maybe at some point later)

Uhh. So Valve just sent me 4 invites at once. Lol

After trying both 40 or so straight games with TA, and randoming, I settled for the middle term by using random.org to pick from a pool of heroes I'm comfortable with on pubs. So far, Drow, TA, OD, Juggernaut, Clinkz, Sven, Tiny, Huskar, CK, NS, DB, SF, FV, QoP, Lina, Enchantress, Tinker and Luna. No more 40min of staring at hopeless carries while unable to do shit because I randomed Crystal fucking Maiden.
|
So, I decide to play a relaxed game and maybe make some goofy items, only to end up randoming some of the top picks. Well then enemies random other similar high picks, suddenly last players go full on tournament mode and the game begins with instant courier, wards, everything! Dire easy camp pulls, ganks to mid to get the game going, double roams from both teams, what - the - hell is going on.
I should really just pick Ogre and go Shadowblade/MoM/Basher or something...

I don't cent is even a lock for winning a game at this point. All the magnus play from various tournies makes me feel like he does cent's job of initiating just as well but the added bonus of empower rounds out your team so much better (espc after the nerf to cent's ult).

You could just click "Spin to Random Hero" until you get one of those.

To me, it's almost like cheating. So when I see other people pick drow for example, especially if they pick her 100+ times, I lose respect because it looks to me like these people need an unfair advantage to win.
I feel exactly the same way man.

So he can press the "spin to random hero" button again, its not that hard
With respect to consciously choosing OP heroes: There isn't anything wrong with this, so long as you are willing to play 2 weeks from now when IceFrog nerfs your hero and all of a sudden you aren't nearly as good as the system "thinks" you are, due to inflating its opinion of you with skewed data (aka games with imbalanced heroes). I mean, winning a bunch mostly ends up with you merely having a too-high MMR, playing players much better than you, and getting trashed repeatedly. What goes up must come down (unless you actually improve in overall skill by playing vs good opponents. In which case, more power to you).

I usually don't want to play drow because its essentially a guaranteed win. The only game I've ever lost with drow was when I was matched with 3 xxx420mlggamerproxxx people who just fed all game. And I still almost carried the game. I want to have to put forth some effort into winning when I play a game. Its no fun just to win every time doing the same thing.
|
I kinda wish you could see stats "by percentile". Actually just by decile, but that term is not used very much.
AKA "the top 10% of players win with drow 70% of the time, but the next 10% are only at 65% winrate..." etc etc.
Because I feel like the hero is too good, but still addressable in game, and I'm curious to know at what skill level is she too easy to crush with vs at what skill level is she too easy to gank or w/e.

It doesn't take 6 tries on average and I don't have to wait for the selection screen.

the random button is the way to go. it does hurt when your carries dont carry but i dont really mind it anymore.

The problem with the random button is that I do it at the very beginning to give my team a chance to pick around me (at least somewhat) but what really ends up happening is 5 cruel and unusual counterpicks from the opponents and allies who actively ensure the worst lanes in history with their picks
Carries not carrying is par for the course, even if I pick carry (rofl my ricing is baaaaaad).

I generally go through phases of playing one hero over and over. Recently I've been switching from Lina, Venge and Rubick, getting my hard support on. I used to play Venge when I was just starting out and failed a lot with her but now that I have a semblance of skill she is soooo much fun, swap is just ridiculous. If I am feeling down or just want to win I go to Brew, Invoker or Wind.
|
So I decided to queue with my EU friend, who queued for EU East (I had 150-200 ping, something I'm not used to at ALL). I hadn't played my invoker in 1-2 months or so, so I figured i'd give it a go.
I laned against a mid Panda, not really giving it a second thought.
This was the result

it doesnt, most good players q for both anyways. since the ping is like 40vs140 not bad at all. however sea ping is around 350ms which is a little too high for me.
